Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Durbin gets back up and denies everything.
Says he’ll give Coburn a chance to respond but then Coburn gets shut out, so no chance to respond.
They go to the intelligence funding bill. Bond says there have been personal attacks on him.
What a circus.
Now I’m on the “Byrd is gonna drop over” watch.
I am hearing Byrd talking about how the Presidential Veto can be overriden.
Well...YES, Byrdie....but, you are NOT getting 2/3 of the House and Senate..and you know it.
I guess he is advocating sending the same bill back to Pres. Bush that he vetos??
I think that’s what he is proposing.
It takes him so long to say things that my mind wanders.
I guess we need to blast fax this old coot the “links” between 9/11 and Iraq.
And don’t worry, failure in Iraq will NOT lead to any problems back here at home.
He said that the POTUS has “intimated” that Saddam was involved in 9/11...
So now he is talking about how Bush lied....
ROLLING MY EYES!!!
He’s just making up a bunch of stuff he says the President said and then says it isn’t true.
Misinformation from the White House, you old fool. He “respectfully” call the President a fear monger.
He also respectfully told the President to “cool down”.
This “bit” by the Dems that they speak “for the American people” is sickening.
I did NOT vote to surrender..and I dare say that a LOT of people that voted for dems in November did NOT vote to surrender or lose that war...which would bring HORRIBLE consequences to our nation.
Dr. Sanity...meet Sen.Byrd.
The only offices that we all get to vote on are that of the President and the Vice President. They and we all have to live with the results of that truly national election, but they really don’t want to see it that way.
Debbie Stabenow should not refer to donuts.
LOL
The cloture vote on the intel bill coming up.
Secret Service agents injured at White house in accidental shooting?????
I didn’t hear that...
They are taking ANOTHER cloture vote?
Did they change anything in the bill??? Are we supposed to know if they did??
If they didn’t...the vote better not change.
Yes, another.
I don’t know what the situation with amendments is and I don’t have any feel for how this will go.
PING.
Sen. Feingold just gave a rousing speech about how Prs. Bush and Cheney are “ignoring” the al-queda threat around the world....because of the war in Iraq.
He said that they don’t “care” about the al-Queda threat...and they need to be held accountable...for contributing to the atmosphere prior to 9/11 of IGNORING al-queda.
BLECH
Obviously, you were listening too.
He said so many irresponsible and untrue things. It’s just discouraging.
Now it’s the short bus lady.
I guess the latest tactic is to accuse Bush of NOT paying attention to al-queda...that the liars Bush/Cheney have been saying they were in Iraq all this time..
and we all KNOW they weren’t...but now, because THEY haven’t taken care of business, al-queda is MORE of a threat.
BTW..did NOT the Pres. just announce a month or so ago...a NEW African base of command opening??? I do believe he would NOT have done that if he hadn’t been quite aware of what Feingold was talking about today..
So...Feingold you are LATE to that party...but you know that.
RE: Those HORRIBLE bombings in Iraq today? Isn’t it ironic that those would happen the day the Dems are meeting with Pres. Bush to try to get him to SURRENDER??
I’m just askin’
No...it is usually a daily ping, when Congress is in session.
Mo1 usually does it..but she has a bad back..and is also working the freepathon.
I should have pinged you earlier...I am sorry—I promised you I would, and I forgot.
BTW..Did you see all of Feingold’s speech??
