His primary problems -- the ones that have stuck -- have not come from bloggers scurrilous accusations -- they have come from bloggers reporting his own words. Excellent point.
If Rudy Giuliani didn't think his past was going to come back to haunt him, he was a naive fool.

The Giuliani campaign made a huge mistake of trying to sell him as a conservative here at FreeRepublic.

Well, it wasn’t the bloggers dredging up old video when Rudy came out for public funding of abortions this week.

Those filthy right wing red-necked churls are actually listening to and parsing what I say! How DARE they! Their duty is to vote, not think! They wouldn’t even be allowed into the Russian Tea Room, even if they could find the City on a map, and they judge ME?

"I think more of this comes from the atmosphere in the blogging atmosphere, in the instant news atmosphere, and the minute analysis atmosphere," he said. Okay, seriously. Regardless of what you think about Rudy, what's incorrect about this statement?
All of the candidates are having to come to grips with the impact of the blogs and the Internet in general. Rudy can't blame bloggers for the issues (and I don't ~think~ he is) that are out there. But the promotion of them is certainly attributable to the blogosphere.
Any serious candidate will realize this and respond accordingly. Let's face it, if it wasn't for YouTube, George Allen would still be in the Senate and would be the presumed front runner.

Duncan Hunter’s 26 years in Congress, and a string of success story chairmanships, as well as author of many important bills, is more than our beloved ex-Congressman Abe Lincoln had as background when he was elected President.

But hey, we got rid of Dan Ratherbiased and Harriet Miers, maybe he should just go ahead and quit now.

Rudy's primary problems -- the ones that have stuck -- have not come from bloggers scurrilous accusations -- they have come from bloggers reporting his own words. If Rudeo didn't make such assinine statements, his poll numbers wouldn't be dropping like cement overshoes in the Hudson River. Rudeo's sour grapes comes from the fact that Rudy and his handlers can't control the messages going out over the internet 24/7.
Most damaging to Rudeo are his efforts to bring his nauseating wife into the campaign spotlight. It is nothing short of astounding that Rudy/Judi went on 20/20 with a clearcut plan to advance his presidency and calculatedly saw HER CABINET ROLE as crucial to his candidacy. The fallout was immediate and intense.
The 20/20 debacle was an all-around winner for conservatives b/c it showcases (1) HER as a pushy, know-it-all broad inflicting herself on the voting public, (2) HIM as a wussy dolt whose wife has him by the gonads, and, (3) THE CAMPAIGN MACHINE as hopelessly inept to have signed off on the cockamamie Cabinet idea.

Rudy acknowledges that A) this has already been and will be a rough primary, and that B) most of the flak is coming from bloggers, and not from other political candidates.
That's just a candid statement of exactly what's happenning.
