His mother was Jewish. Early in his adulthood, as a young lawyer, he used the name "Jerry Rivers".
Proud of his Puerto Rican heritage? Only later when he realized he could parlay his ethnicity into a TV career. He is a classic self-aggrandizer and fraud.
