There may, indeed, be huge differences, but who is to say what is a cult and what is not?

Catholics practice excommunication, I’ve known other “Christians who would either not do business with you or not hire you, or fire you, if you did not agree with their religious views.

Many were killed in the Inquisitions.

So, what is the difference between a cult and a religion?

If you believe that a Creator gave us free choice to reject Him at times yet still shows us mercy you will have one kind of outlook on life.

If you believe that a Creator demands perfect fidelity and will heap untold misery for the slightest transgression you will have another kind of outlook on life.

If you belive that everything is by accident you will have another kind of outlook on life.

Something's true. The "everything by accident" view is the least rational, btw.
