My 73 year old mother responds with “My son is an officer in the US Army and is at Cent-Com. Out of respect for him and his position I do not discuss the military or the war especially with people who most likely get their “facts” from places like CNN.” She says it shuts them up really quickly. She had a terrible experince last Fall with an oriental rug dealer who left her in tears. Since then she has come up with this response and she szays it works.

I simply said that "There were are lot of bad folks over in Iraq for our troops to deal with". Her retort was that her "My house was broken into last week, we have bad people here too". My finishing statement was "I notice they didn't lob off your head, like most of the bad people in Iraq have a habit of doing".
I'm sick of idiots sharing their unsolicited opinions about my son's deployment.

At the public library I caught one of the clerks stamping the library’s property stamp across any Republican’s face who happens to be on the cover of a magazine.
I “called” her on it...and let her know she was defacing public property and infliting her opinion where it doesn’t belong.
My wife’s a librarian (semi-retired). She has many such colleagues. :(
I hope she didn’t buy a rug from that nincompoop.
