From probably also before your time...
“You see, poker’s played by desperate men who cherish money. I don’t lose because I have nothing to lose, including my life.”
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050468/
My sisters and I watch it regularly.
We knew that a section of the old movie was missing from the original—the scenes where they cross the desert. We all separately remembered scenes in which Patience finally leaves her bell behind and other women walked away from their treasures—without caring or looking back.
I wrote to MGM, and I asked them if part of the movie had been lost to decomposition. A really great guy wrote to me. He said that he’d never seen the movie; but my interest in it bled over to him. He checked out the script; and nothing was missing. HE SENT ME THE SCRIPT!!! I have the written script of that great movie!!!
We loved reading through it...but my sisters and I STILL remember missing scenes.
When VHS’s began printing old movies, I watched and waited for Westward the Women AND the old version of The Haunting. Both remembered from my youth—and both my favorites!
(I’m sorry to be so long-winded: I do love this old movie, and it’s great to find someone else who appreciates it!)
Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
MORONS!
i am laughing and i remember these lines but can’t remember the move.Abbott and costello?Bob Hope?
That is funny,thanks Silly.
From a film that I enjoy, but not many others appreciate:
George Kaplan: I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Rome. I did my first bare-handed strangulation here. Communist politician.
Hudson Hawk: Why George you old softie.
George Kaplan: God, I miss Communism. The Red threat... people were scared... the agency had some respect and I got laid every night.
One from Smokey and the Bandit my dad always told me, “There is no way, NO way that you came from my loins. The first thing I’m gonna do when I get home is punch your momma in the mouth. “
“Make us a ten o’clock reservation at the Stork Club.”
“The Stork Club? Are you sure? You remember what happened there the last time.”
“Surely they must have repaired the damage by now.”
Thanks jws3sticks.
Thats funny!
When I watched it recently, I thought I remembered more scenes of the women parting with their things, as well. I faintly remember them throwing things off a cliff. I could be mistaken, though.
I loved the scene where the women hold up the wagon while the pregnant girl has her baby.
Actually it’s —
“I fear that all we have done is to awaken a Sleeping Giant, and fill him with a terrible resolve.”
One of THE best things EVER put in a movie.
Too bad too many Americans have forgotten that.
That is an understatement. The film is like a multi-car collision: you are unsure about looking, but you cannot look away.
Thanks Kathy.

HOMBRE 1967
From Mr Blandings builds his dreamhouse:
Muriel Blandings: I refuse to endanger the lives of my children in a house with less than four bathrooms.
Jim Blandings: For 1,300 dollars they can live in a house with three bathrooms and ROUGH IT.
[The Bible is] quite specific [about killing]. It is, however somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps, they are great ,Thanks RebelBanker-kinda like the kneecaps one:)
From the same movie:
Darwin Mayflower: I’ll torture you so slowly, you’ll think it’s a career.
Thats the best line from the Godfaher.
