Charles Krauthammer: Iraq is just a smokescreen for the 'real' war
New Hampshire Union Leader ^ | April 01, 2007 | Charles Krauthammer

THE SENATE and the House have both passed bills for ending the Iraq War, or at least liquidating the American involvement in it. The resolutions, approved by the barest majorities, were underpinned by one unmistakable theme: wrong war, wrong place, distracting us from the real war that is elsewhere.

I had it my fellow freeper with some on our side who propagate this worst of lies that President Bush is not a true and great leader in this time of war. We need to confront these idiots every time they spread their lies on this great forum.

And Americas women will elect Hitlery Clinton in 2008..

Only idiots believe that women love Hillary Clinton. The stupid pundits will be shocked in 2008 when they learn that for the first time in many elections the majority of women voted against a democrat candidate if this democrat candidate is Hillary Clinton. Even here in ultra liberal Massachusetts many liberal women that I know, and many are single, cannot stand Hillary Clinton.

They are all wrong. The real war is between communists in drag (the democratic party and their running dogs), and Americans, for contol of the United States Of America. At this stage of the war, the communists are winning. They have captured the major media outlets, the public schools and universites, the legal profession, the courts, about 50% of the states legislatures, the unions, and the federal house and senate.

Don't forget the mainstream churches belonging to the NCC and WCC. If any Freepers belongs to any of these churches, you are part of the problem:

• African Methodist Episcopal Church

• The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church

• Alliance of Baptists

• American Baptist Churches in the USA

Sorry but mindlessly regugitating the idiot doctrines screamed at you but never been anything Talk Radio Hosts does't impress us here. Try again when you have even the slightest clue what you are talking about.

Until then don't waste our time screaming this idiot Neo Isolationist "partion" dogma, it an idiot's song totally devoid of even the slightest hint of any understanding of the ground or the political players. The ONE sure way to lose this war would be to start playing the Imperialist bully boy and try to impose a political solution on the Iraqis because the gutless morons in DC are too arrogantly stupid to simply GET OUT OF THE WAY.

So where the Ghost of LBJ is laughing his ass off watching another bunch of DC butt clowns trying to lose a war because of their arrogant certainy that they, sitting 9000 miles away with utterly NO understanding of the people or the ground, can sit in DC make decisions better then the PEOPLE ON THE GROUND in Iraq can.

GET OUT OF OUR WAY. That is the best way you Know Nothing clowns can help us in Iraq is simply GET OUT OF THE WAY.

Hmmm. I replied on another post of this column and it looks like that one got pulled as a duplicate.

Anyway...I predict that if we ever go all out in Afghanistan, we will in very short order hear that Afghanistan is no longer the real war, but a distraction from the real war in...wait for it...Iraq. And if we ever decide to go in and settle accounts with Iran, that will, of course, be decried as a distraction from the real war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Undeniable truth of the day: For the people who make that argument, the real war is wherever we're not. Understand that and you understand what that argument really means, that according to them, whatever we do is wrong. What cynical pieces of work they are.

Brother I hope you are right. I have talked to literally hundreds of returning Iraq vets and several of my friends have spent time there in combat. Most of them don't see that and feel that the whole thing isn't worth it. The Marines for the most part (not all) want to lay waste to the whole country - for payback and so they and their brothers don't have to go back. When the moms and pops rise up we will have won. I for one am not holding my breath.

Twisted Islam has not destroyed the mind of all in Iraq ... there are some parents truly appalled at the 'sacrificing of children in car bomb murders' and the tide is slowly turning in the estimate of the 'adopt-a-soldier' members I correspond with. The Kurdish North and much of the other provinces outside of Baghdad are already awakening into civilization after being oppressed under the Sunni regime. Now, even Sunnis are realizing the evil in their past.

Once again, Charlie is right on target with his analysis.

"But you do not decide where to fight on the basis of history; you decide on the basis of strategic realities of the ground."

Whenever dealing with real estate, the most important factor is "location, location, location."

Afghanistan is a bunch of rocks, deserts, and steppes. Oh, yeah--there's the Khyber Pass, but who uses it anymore?

Iraq has vast oilfields.

Which do we need more?

I'm not in your way. We're speaking of future strategy to get us out of a current strategy that appears to be stalled and losing popular support.

I espoused partitioning long before it was mentioned by your favorite talk show hosts.

Agreed. We need to stand up for the truth and take the fight to the enemy and that includes the ones that have infiltrated this site spouting the leftist propaganda.

Yeah that the ticket. Cling desperately to the failed dogmas of the Do Nothings (AKA the Realists) that are the major reason the 09-11-01 Atrocities happen. Just close your eyes, shove your head back in your hole and simply tune out all factual reality that your dogmas were developed to deal with the Cold War Paradigm and a bi polar world order that no longer exists

Want to see what sort of disaster your sort of simplistic quick easy gutless "Partition" theories create? Go visit the Balkans and Kosovo you idiot. See how you people have totally destroyed a whole section of Europe and turned it into the capital of the world wide sex slave trade with your totally cowardly "ignore the world and it will go away" theories.

Hey Dinasour, waddle off to the tar pits of irrelevance while better men clean up the mess YOU morons made of the Middle East.

Oh the Kurds I don't even count in this mess. They are thriving. I have two business development deals in their area and I love the Kurds.

When people ask me what is going on in Iraq I tell them it is just like if the Baptists and the Southern Baptists start killing each other - makes about that much sense.

Look at the Senate its a Mob no matter whos in charge..

Sophistry, ignorance or Alzheimer's! A GOP Senate confirms conservative SCOTUS, passes tax cuts, expires assualt weapons ban, and authorizes the WOT. A rat Senate does the opposite.

Krauthammer said: "But you cannot reasonably argue that in 2007 Iraq is not the most critical strategic front in the war on terror. There's no escaping its centrality."

However, I think you're on to something. The United States should bomb and destroy Iran's oil pipelines, oil storage tanks, refinery, and nuclear sites. This would effectively castrate Iran, which is supporting terrorism with weapons and money. It would send a clear message to terrorists, rogue regimes, and the world that the United States will not settle for appeasement. It would also force regime change in Iran.

The US response to 9/11 should have been total insane destruction of the Islamic world capitals, religious sites, and population centers. That would have solved the problem for another 1000 years. Until we are as equally maniacal and fierce as they, we invite disaster.

Whom do you think is the purchaser of Iran's oil? Destroying Iran's capability to produce and export oil is but a section in the shaft of a very large spear. Think about it ...
