[history]
THE SENATE and the House have both passed bills for ending the Iraq War, or at least liquidating the American involvement in it. The resolutions, approved by the barest majorities, were underpinned by one unmistakable theme: wrong war, wrong place, distracting us from the real war that is elsewhere.

I posted this on another thread, it seems to fit this thread also.
I have a question: Let's say my scenario below is what happens. Would that military mobilization qualify as a "withdrawal" from Iraq as well as Afghanistan? Then, when we're all done and we set up bases in Kurdistan, it wouldn't really be Iraq, would it? It would be Kurdistan.
How to Stand Up to Iran

Split Iraq up and get out
***The bold military move would be to mobilize FROM Iraq into Iran through Kurdistan and then sweep downward, meeting up with the forces that we pull FROM Afghanistan in a 2-pronged offensive. We would be destroying nuke facilities and building concrete fences along geo-political lines, separating warring tribes physically. At the end, we take our boys into Kurdistan, set up a couple of big military bases and stay awhile. We could invite the French, Swiss, Italians, Mozambiqans, Argentinians, Koreans, whoever is willing to be the police forces for the regions that we move through, and if the area gets too hot for these peacekeeper weenies we send in military units. Basically, it would be learning the lesson of Iraq and applying it.
15 rules for understanding the Middle East
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1774248/posts
Rule 8: Civil wars in the Arab world are rarely about ideas -- like liberalism vs. communism. They are about which tribe gets to rule. So, yes, Iraq is having a civil war as we once did. But there is no Abe Lincoln in this war. It's the South vs. the South.
Rule 10: Mideast civil wars end in one of three ways: a) like the U.S. civil war, with one side vanquishing the other; b) like the Cyprus civil war, with a hard partition and a wall dividing the parties; or c) like the Lebanon civil war, with a soft partition under an iron fist (Syria) that keeps everyone in line. Saddam used to be the iron fist in Iraq. Now it is us. If we don't want to play that role, Iraq's civil war will end with A or B.

Many of us said the same and still believe it, and President Bush also has been saying this exactly same thing for the last 3 years.

The good Doctor makes far too much strategic sense and speaks with far too erudite and logical rationale to connect with the vast majority of our populace, who can recite -- verbatim -- just about every contestant on "American Idol", but, who could never locate Iraq on any map of the Middle East, much less list even 40 of our 50 states.
Our PC/MC educators have really done a number on our Republic, not to mention the traitorous MSM.
My God, what a joy to be pressing my 8th decade. I am not at all sure I could handle what the Dems have in store for us...were the GOP to lose the Executive Branch.

I'm not quite sure that the South wanted to vanquish anyone, but rather to secede. So the "civil" war may be a misnomer.

I wrote an essay at FR years ago regarding the coming future means to defeat Islamofascism through preemptive deterrence, not reaction to assaults. If 911 showed us anything is that as the Islamic world gains greater weaponry they will 'lend them out' to their suicide murderers to be use against US, most likely here on our soil. Charles has nailed this issue, but sadly, most American voters will never read his clear exposition of the reality. The media is invested in aiding the democrap party in their lies and dissembling and hate-mongering. We the People are in a most precarious position, perhaps in more danger than we have ever been in our History. Time and political fortunes will tell ... God will not indulge us for much longer.

And so said any of us who had a semblence of brainpower---the Iraq problems just fit so neatly into RAT Bush bashing that they cannot resist letting the Islamic world know that they are cowards and backstabbers of those we profess to protect---if they get away with any of this Israel will be next to 'get the shaft' as it appears is beginning to happen already---of course I do not worry about Israel since I know the God will protect His People and nothing mankind can do will supercede that.

Iraq: Partition, partition, partition. It beats putting on an iron-fist lid.
Afghanistan: an issue to be resolved with Pakistan (Musharraf)

In my opinion we should not worry anymore about a majority of Americans supporting the war. The independence war and the civil war were fought with a minority of patriots supporting it, but were also won by a minority of patriots. We have come to this very same point in this war on terror, a determined Commander in Chief, our braves troops, and a minority of Patriots are going to win this war despite the defeatists and traitors in the democrat party and their media, and despite a totally ignorant majority who does not understand how important to fight this war and win it for the future of our freedom and our way of life.

Dont worry, as soon as the Cut-N-Run is a 'done deal' in Iraq, the Dems will declare that now Afghanistan is a pointless waste of money and lives and this seek to end that effort as well.
To: jdm
In order to get support from the Democrats on the Iraqi front, we first need to convince them that all our Forces are really in Afghanistan.
To: Hop A Long Cassidy
You are falling into the trap of ignorance that Iraq is a civil war rather than a war where we are battling Al Qaeda terrorists, the terrorist regimes of Iran and Syria, and of course the Iraqi factions that are used by AL Qaeda or Syria and Iran. The war in Iraq must be won by us first and the Iraqis second, it must be won by us because our freedom and our way of life depends on it.
