Yes we may be here for a while...I am one, who when I am interested in a thread, I will everything on that thread, whether I agree with the comments or not...I never scroll past anyones posts, even when I know from previous history on FR, that I am not going to agree with what they say...still, I always am aware, that they may provide further insight to what they may have previously said...so I am interested...
Thankfully, I am retired, so I have all the time in the world to read whatever I want, whenever I want...I do realize that many folks on FR, dont have that luxury, and even those who have the time, will refuse to read certain posters posts...so be it...
But I for one, do enjoy reading all that people write, when they are posting on a thread, whose subject matter interests me...so very long, long posts, dont bother me in the least, sometimes its in those posts, that I can learn a lot more, than someone who makes a stupid hit and run post, that makes no sense at all...
So yeah, do pass the coffee, I do plan to be here for a while...
I keep hanging around out of sheer curiosity to see who gets the last word. Doesn't look like I'll know any time soon. ;-)
I'm being careful not to join in myself, as I'll admit to knowing nothing about science or anything anyone's posting about.
That one is easy -- God. 8>)
Heh heh.
You're still wrong...but it doesn't really matter to me.
For example, try saying something insulting about the alleged designer and see how fast the "ID" folks start whining about you "attacking God" or "attacking religion"
Nice straw-man argument...so you disprove ID as a theory because some advocates might also take offense if you attack their view of God. That's fine, but don't expect me to be impressed by such tactics.
Ichnie - I do hope you stick around. It's clear that tying conservatism to creationism is not healthy for the cosnervative philosophy, we need to clean out the underbrush of mistaken assumptions.
However, a 10 page post comment that invokes Hitler (Godwin's Law!) and the KKK-bible-thump connection in a Darwin/evo debate? Gee, throw the gasoline, dynamite *and* the unexploded mines on the bonfire while your at it. LOL. Maybe it needs to be its own article?
Seems like, so often we never really find out who gets the last word...a thread will appear to go dormant for a while, and then days, weeks or months later, someone will comment on it, and then it starts all over again...especially on these CREVO threads, feelings run so high, people are so adamant about their view, that they cannot let go...I must admit, sometimes I also am curious as to who is going to get the last word in, and who finally has had enough of things and just leaves...
Suffice it to say, the one who winds up with the last word, is never seen to be the winner in my book...the one who winds up with the last word, may simply have more time on their hands than other posters...for all of us, real life, does intervene, and hopefully real life is more important, than ones internet life...
*Gasp!!!*
;-)
The Spanish Inquisition followed the Reconquista of the Iberian Peninsula from the Moors - Muslims. It was the final act in purging Islam and its collaborators from Spain. This was a reaction to the cutthroats.
The Crusades? This was a reaction by the European aristocracy against the Muslim cutthroats who were coming to steal their property. Seems like a sensible response to me.
The opening of the New World? What's the problem? Are you against emigration?
The slave trade? Just think of it this way. The Europeans saved all those souls from the Muslim cutthroats who sold Africans to them. They saved them from otherwise getting their throats cut like they do now in Sudan.
The Merchant of Venice? What's fiction got to do with anything?
Don't you think it's time you placed a limit on the amount of spam a person can post in a single thread? People can easily post links to pages for backup without resorting to this. It disrupts a thread.
I know...I said an unspeakable thing there....
Er, the name of the *science* involved is the "biological sciences" or biology. Evolution is a process that is theorized to occur in the natural world, so it's not a science, or even a branch of one, but subject matter within biology.
Did you do any uranium dating also? I have questions about that relating to closed system assumption, initial quantity assumptions and super nova explosions (in nearby stars) related to cosmic radiation.
I'll look through my notes for the AZ question. I have been reorganizing and become, unorganized. I've added about 40-70 pages of notes a day of various parallel evo/creation/ID topics over the last couple weeks and have gotten a chance to read most of it, but not cataloged it.
See you tomorrow, time permitting.
I think you do yourself no service by posting voluminous spam like this including your little nitpicky lawyerly comments on every line. Get a life.
Reminds me of something, somewhat off-topic. There's a children's song I learned when my age was single digits:
I went to the animal fair
The birds and the beasts were there.
The big baboon, by the light of the moon,
Was combing his auburn hair.
The monkey, he got drunk,
And stepped on the elephant's trunk,
The elephant sneezed and fell on its knees.
And that was the end of the monk, the monk.
And that was the end of the monk,
The monk, the monk, the monk, the monk....
The commentary in the book I found it in, noted that children would sometimes go on for a long time on "the monk" And days, weeks, even months later, would call out one more, "The Monk!"
Thirty some-odd years after first reading that, I still call out an occasional, "The monk."
"Don't you think it's time you placed a limit on the amount of spam a person can post in a single thread? People can easily post links to pages for backup without resorting to this. It disrupts a thread."
facts, citations, links and in-depth presentation 'disrupting' the less ueful repetitive banter? oh, the horror!
Someone beat me to it and you'll need more that coffee. :o)
I guess this place is not such a horrible pit as you once maintained.
Oops, I forgot Darwin Central is down for maintenance. I suppose the rule in play is "any port in a storm".
Whose property? says the Jew on the thread. 8>)
