My guess is Webb was upset that the guy made Webb look bad. Webb seems to be a hothead (witness his absurd reaction to the President trying to make conversation with him). He blew up at a debate as well.
A compassionate boss would have done everything he could to get the guy out of jail, but Webb just wanted to make sure everybody knew it wasn't his fault.
Time to write a book and follow the lead of Goldberg, Morris, et. al.
Frankly -- given the "Senator's" writing style and apparent mental instability -- I'm surprised he qualified to carry a weapon on his person...
Wouldn't it be neat - if someone challenged the blow hard to a damned duel!
I'd pay money to watch...
Semper Fi
.
Have seen this stated several times, but have never seen any proof. Has anyone seen the permit???
Cue Aerosmith's 'Janies got a Gun'
Jimmy's got a gun
the Congress' come undone...
More seriously, his actions give support to the enemies of the Second Amendment. The common argument against allowing citizens to own guns is that people can't be trusted to handle them properly and to behave responsibly.
Ditto and double ditto.
Maybe my head has been in the sand, but that is the first time I've heard the gun was loaded. Not smart.
I'm a gun owner. Safety is job #1.
Webb is a scum, a loose screw. I think that some of the military in Virginia voted for him and put him over the top because they thought he was one of them. Big mistake. He's about as reliable as Captain Queeg.
How do we know Webb supports the right of the "little people" to carry guns, just because he carries one himself? Dianne Feinstein also had a gun permit.
Webb is too new in the Senate to have a record on gun legislation, but considering the general attitude of most of his fellow Democrats, plus Webb's history of nasty political tactics, he should not be entitled to the benefit of the doubt.
I think this writer makes an excellent point, and eloquently. From what I read, the gun not only was loaded, but there was additional ammunition in the bag as well.
with any luck such things as who has a concealed carry permit aren't widely disseminated.
You are right. I don't.
I didn't make myself clear there since I quoted more than I should have. I mostly meant to ditto the not carrying a loaded gun loose in a bag.
Yep. Webb voted cut and run too. What a surprise.
If true that is pretty irresponsible. If someone doesn't know the gun or the ammo is in the bag and they drop the bag...
Hell, I don't even let arrows for my bow roll around loose and tips uncovered in a bag. Someone could not know they are in there and stick their hand in.
I really would question his thinking regarding the "little people"...
Partly because he has shown himself to be very liberal in all other catagories...AND, during that press conference he made some comment about how since Senators don't GET the kind of security that the POTUS has...that they have to provide it themselves.
It smacked of an "entitlement mentality" to me...like he felt wronged.
'..Webb voted cut and run too..'
Guess Webb thinks it's ok to announce to terrorists the date that the US military will leave Iraq so the terrorists can then pounce on innocent Iraqis. Wonder if Webb would like to advertise the dates he's NOT carrying the weapon he feels he needs to protect himself?
Hypocrite...and that's the nicest thing I can say about Webb.
Well, just in case he doesn't know - neither do the "little people" and so do the "little people." ;0)
Well said.
