"Everything they know about California they learned from television"

Even though I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I pretty much learned everything I know about LA from TV.

That's why I am still single waiting for that hot surfer babe to throw herself in my arms.

I think I'll hold out for a couple more years and then try computer dating.

Your comment was unnecessary and tacky. Wildfire anywhere is is horrific. We have a lot of wonder FReepers in California and you demean them with your words.

When I heard this was at the Oakwood Apartments I thought the fire might have been started by one of those child actors that live there, and maybe was upset by not getting the acting role he/she so "richly" deserved.

Imagine if someone starting having a typical post-child-actor lifestyle even before they became a famous child-actor.

How pathetic would that be?

What's the status of the fire?

I love that old church -- we had church services there a few times.

Well... That was rather bizarre. I clicked the live feed link just in time to see my office go whizzing by as their helo landed at VNY.

Yeah, maybe. But when you've got friends with houses less than a half mile from the fire, the jokes don't seem very funny.

And as I like to point out, in the last election, a million more Californians voted for President Bush than Texans did.

"And as I like to point out, in the last election, a million more Californians voted for President Bush than Texans did."

The interesting thing about living in the state that has about 10% of the total population of the USA is that we pretty much have more of everything else than any other place.

There are probably more square dancers, polka bands, NASCAR fans, Italian Pizza Parlors, Hawaiian Plate Lunch places, etc. than in any other state.

I can understand your concern. We all handle stress differently and need to respect that in each other IMO. I don't know why you want to drag Texas in this, though. Anyway, it sounds like people are ok. I hope yall don't lose any historical property but what about your zoo? Isn't that a treasure too? Are the animals ok? That sure looks like a of smoke.

I was at Togos off Los Feliz, and looked at some guys from Task Force 50 getting lunch....and said "Oh, the Griffith Park arsonist is at it again" The guy took a look at the beginnings of smoke (1pm) and said. "Oh, looks like a Valley Response to me"

I cracked up. I am sure they are covering some station in the Valley by now. The Truck company is probably still at home though.

Well, Puppy, you did well until your last paragraph.

I have nothing but sympathy for those in the path of a forest fire. Two years ago, we had a fire come within 25 yards of our home here in the Black Hills. Those very brave and dedicated fire fighters saved our home and many others around us. I thank God for such fine young men.

Many years ago, my 24 year old little brother was a young forester with the Forest Service. He lost his life trying to save other lives during a forest fire in Colorado.

Forgive me for my lack of humor. I still find it difficult to "lighten up and smile" when it comes to forest fires.
