White House Criticizes Pelosi's Trip to Syria March 30, 2007

ABC News' Jonathan Karl Reports: At today's White House briefing, Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino strongly criticized Pelosi's planned visit Syria, saying, "We think it is a really bad idea."

"People should take a stop back and think about the message it sends and the message it sends to our allies," Perino added.

Perino said she did not know if anybody in the administration had spoken directly to Pelosi to discourage the trip.

Traveling with Pelosi will be Congressmen Keith Ellison (D-MN), Nick Rahall (D-WV), Tom Lantos (D-CA), Henry Waxman (D-CA), and David Hobson (R-OH).

Well, the one silver lining in this is that at least while they're over there, they're not scr***ng us in session over here.

And, like someone else said, the problem I have is not so much with them going there, it's with them returning.

Re your Logan Act post, that law has never been enforced in the post WWII era, to the best of my knowledge. I doubt many of today's ex-presidents, governors and congresscritters are even aware of it, because they routinely violate it. So bashing AG Gonzalez for not indicting Pelosi for her Syrian trip is pure nonsense.

Personally, I think the Logan Act should have been consistently enforced from the time it was signed through today, but it wasn't. So don't blame the current administration for the failings of its predecessors.

A former 1960s radical, Horowitz is well-acquainted with the Leftist mindset. In this book, he strives to explain the modern alliance between left wing progressivists and radical Islamofascists. He argues that this alliance is based on a common desire to destroy Western capitalism. Leftist sympathy with Islamofascist ideas makes no sense from an intellectual point of view, given that countries ruled by radical Islamists are among the most racist, sexist, theocratic states in the world today. However, Leftists have recognized that they can benefit politically from destructive terrorist attacks on the Western world. A West under attack can be made to turn on its leaders in fear and desperation (as they did in Spain after the Madrid train bombings). Only once people reject current government structures can the Left execute its anti-capitalist revolution and build a new reality that mirrors the Leftist view of utopia.

The complete and utter idealogical hypocrisy of the Islamofascist-Leftist alliance is distressing, but as Horowitz reminds us,

Leftists radicals truly believe the ends justify the means.

Concur. The more the RATS overplay their hand, the less likely they will capture the presidency in '08. They may even lose the House in 08.

With these and other actions, the RATS are already way ahead of schedule on reacquiring the "soft on national security" label and within a month the "tax and spend" marquis will be theirs, as well.

I called the White House comment line noontime (EST) and told them I was outraged aboput this. I told them to tell President Bush that he should not aspprove military transport or escort for this trip, as Pelosi should be going to Syria, as she is not to conduct foreign policy, let alone with a state sponsor of terror.

I let my Senators and Congressman know that also.

The line has to be drawn. This is downright treasonous. and should not be allowed. Period.

Also, isn't it special that the new Muslim on the block gets to go on his first junket--to Syria!

A pox on all of them!
