SENATE STAFFER BUSTED FOR CARRYING WEBB'S LOADED GUN: Phillip Thompson, executive assistant to Senator James Webb (D-VA ), has been arrested by Capitol Hill Police on Monday for 'inadvertently' holding the senator's loaded gun, according to a person close to the investigation. A Senate staffer reports that Thompson was arrested for carrying the gun in a bag through security at the Russell Senate Office building while the Senator was parking his car. Thompson was booked for carrying a pistol without a license (CPWL) and for possessing unregistered ammunition.
Statement by Jessica Smith, Webb Communications Director:
"To our knowledge, this incident was an oversight by the Senator's aide. Phillip Thompson is a former Marine, a long-term friend and trusted employee of the Senator. We are still awaiting facts." Developing...
Debating tools.
Yeah, a dumb mistake, Dumb senators and their aids should not be allowed to carry a gun, especially if they don't know where the gun is.
Because the fine people of Virginia refused to stand up for Sen. Allen.
Well, ya know, it can be dangerous getting to those 2am votes.
Some years back they quietly passed a little law giving themselves the status of a U.S. Marshal, no CCW needed.
I guess now some states are requiring that ammo be registered.
I was going to just do the first line. The famous one from Watergate used to imply we should make a federal case out of this the way the D's do. But I got carried away and forgot it was on.
So, Sen. Webb is going to let his staffer take a fall for this? Is there no way the staffer can get off for not knowing the prohibited items were in the bag he was carrying?
I think you're exactly right! If he was carrying in Webb's bag for him (which I can't tell from the story, but could be the case), then this would be Webb bringing in a loaded gun to the Senate. Why? Or why would his AA be carrying in a loaded gun?
This is my rifle,
This is my gun!
This one's for fighting,
This one's for fun!
Was he holding the Senator's gun?!?!?!?
Almost every Freeper who posted comments in the run up to the eleciton, ended with a comment saying that, if reluctantly, they were going to vote for the Republican.
Is that true?
Why would you say that? I'm guessing you don't think it was stupid, but that the law is?
Isn't Webb the guy who made a joke about shooting Bush? Or was that just punching him in the mouth?
"So, Sen. Webb is going to let his staffer take a fall for this? Is there no way the staffer can get off for not knowing the prohibited items were in the bag he was carrying?"
Hey, there are risks associated with being the staffer of a slimey creature. Sometimes, you get some on ya.
Maybe he wants to bring back the time honored dueling to end debates?
Freeper Lawyers: OK, so is this a crime? There was no criminal intent, there was no *knowledge* that he was breaking the law. At least I'd go for a jury trial, where it would all depend on the judges instructions.
"All pigs are equal; but some pigs are more equal than others."
There you go offending Muslims again :-)
"There you go offending Muslims again :-)"
There you go offending pigs again.
Webb may have a full six pack, but he lacks the plastic thingy that holds 'em all together.
Semper Fi,
