Yes, Thompson has portrayed strong executive leadership in his acting roles, but what reason do we have to believe that he will exhibit the same qualities in real life? Unlike Reagan, to whom he sometimes is compared, Thompson has never led a major labor organization, never served as governor, and never been considered one of the leaders of the conservative movement in this country.

Shocking isn't it?
LOL
I couldn't quite figure that out either. It refers to the NTU Congressional Rating (most recent legislative year) which Thompson wasn't even a part of.
For me this is the most important stat:
Percent of A Grades
Ron Paul: 100%
Tom Tancredo: 100%
Fred Thompson: 88%
John McCain: 67%
Newt Gingrich: 57%
Sam Brownback: 50%
Chuck Hagel: 30%
Duncan Hunter: 6%
All Democrats: 0%
Thanks, I neglected to put of the link, my bad here it is...

"Cuz" (Cousin Fred) will run...
Cuz will be nominated....
He will win... IMHO
...Because America will wake up in the face of the socialist/lunatic threat posed by the DIM-DHIMMI-DEMS...
I lived through RR's presidency...and if one uses the legends that have grown up since, Ronald Reagan was no Ronald Reagan...
The she-devil certainly didn't sleep her way to the top. :)
So, Fred's third to two VERY conservative but hopelessly unelectable guys...IOW the most fiscally conservative guy who can win!
I think Fweddy needs to stick to acting. "The Rooskies don't take a dump without a plan, Son."
Among other differences, Thompson has never written or spoken strongly in defense of conservative values, as Mr. Reagan did for years before he ran for office.
Fred can do the job!
This statement is unthinkably dense.
Thompson has a Senate voting record, for crying out loud. He's been a public figure since the 1970s. His track record as a legislator is overwhelmingly conservative.
Earth to Merry...come in Merry...
I will not cast a vote for RG under any circumstances. I will not vote for the lesser of two evils. RG is NOT Constitutional, so he is not a viable candidate.
I'm kinda liking Thompson only because Giuliani, McCain, Romney and Gingrich are so flawed.
But come on!
OK, Thompson was a DA and Senator instead of a union leader and governor. But that'd like saying "Reagan is no Eisenhower" because Reagan didn't command troops.
And Reagan only emerged as a national conservative leader in 1976 when he challenged and lost to a sitting President, Gerald Ford. Are we to be less impressed with Thompson because he didn't rally the nation to defeat Bush in '04? Or do we have to habe Thompson lose and wait until Clinton's been in office for (another) four years, so that Thompson can run in '12?
Hmmmmm. Maybe one of those things that classifies one as a CONSERVATIVE?
Great observation!
>> I would vote for him simply because he is not from NY or has ever made a lame attempt to represent NY. <<
Guess you don't watch Law and Order. Heeheehee!
Bob, it you're waiting for another Reagan it ain't gonna happen in our lifetimes, maybe ever.
If you're looking for the most conservative potential candidate who could realistically win the general, Thompson should be your man.
I never even heard of him before, until hearing him filling in for Paul Harvey a month or so ago, which hes doing again now. I liked him from the get-go, even though at the time I didnt even know where he stood politically. Kind of the same way I liked the presidential candidate Ronald Reagan at a time when I still considered my self a conservative Democrat . For that reason I am solidly behind Fred Thompson. Hes got what it takes to re-light the fire in the belly of the Reagan Republicans & old conservative Democrats who are still out there. GO FRED GO.

Good research.
The Rudy-poo crowd is scared.
The might have to vote for a conservative instead of Rudy.
Quite a few early vocal supporters of Mayor Giuliani have quietly switched their support to Thompson, as well.
How did you manage to monitor Reagan's deep thinking?
