Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani led off with his strongest card, his terrorism-fighting credentials, before touching on healthcare, immigration and energy policy in a speech to a welcoming crowd Saturday.
"Sept. 11, 2001, taught me and I believe it taught a lot of people, including President Bush that we have to remain on offense," Giuliani said. "That means that we have to use our military. We can't show weakness."
Giuliani seemed to hit all the right notes Saturday, getting applause when he criticized Democrats' stance on healthcare and advocated vouchers for schools.
On immigration, he told reporters he doesn't support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but he could support a guest worker program if there were adequate border security and tamper-proof ID cards. He said that even if illegal immigrants "can demonstrate that they are lawful, that they are paying taxes [and] that they'll pay penalties," they still shouldn't be put ahead of people who go through legal channels.
"And citizenship here, if it's earned, should be premised on being able to read and write English and understand American history, so we restore assimilation to the process of immigration," he said.
"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

So, does this mean you believe in stifling freedom of speech?
If you believe that a PRIVATELY OWNED conservative forum banning or limiting certain views is a violation of First Amendment free speech rights, then you are totally uninformed about what our Constitutional rights actually are.
We are all conservatives here.
I've been contributing monitarily to this forum since 2004 because I thought it was a good place for Republicans to band together against the liberal forces in this country. Now I see I have to defend my conservatism to loud mouthed bullies who don't agree with my choice of Republican candidate.

But what I was really talking about was last fall, why didn't he run then? If he had defeated her, she would have been finished politically -- THAT would have been a demonstration of GOP loyalty.
Good Grief!! You actually think he should have run for a 6 year Senate seat and then ditch it in TWO YEARS to run for President???
LMAO!! That would NOT have done any good for the GOP!

If you are voting liberal, stand for liberalism. In that case go to the DU and argue with them over who is more lib, Hillary, Obama or Rudy.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a candidate who doesn't use that kind of public deception?

No,I'm not joking. I said all Republicans come from a conservative point of view. If not, they would be Democrats or Independents or whatever... I'm sorry, but have you heard of Arlen Specter? Lincoln Chafee?

This used to be a conservative forum.A lot more conservative in the past than today
Now conservatism is scorned and lies are acceptable. Perhaps I no longer belong here.
In spite of the Julie Annie licking liberal republicans who have come out of the woodwork, I think those of us who are true conservatives should not shut up and go away. Where else are we going to get a voice other than the internet? To the MSM the three stooges (McCain Romney and the despicable Guiliani) are conservative. If we abandon even one forum, then that one voice dries up.

So, you think that joining and contributing means you are a conservative? I really don't know if you are or not, but I do know that your choice for the GOP nomination is a BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL.
I take it you still don't understand that limiting postings on FR have NOTHING TO DO with free speech.

If we abandon even one forum, then that one voice dries up. Words of wisdom. Thanks!
I'll have to try to avoid the Rudiots (Rudy+idiots).
I find I have little patience for RINO phonies these days.

still cant drag yourself away i see. speaks volumes. bugg off now. you have been wanred. Why are you asking FA to "drag himself away" from discussing conservative issues on a conservative forum? What are you "warning" him about?
There are plenty of FReepers who would be just fine if all of the Rudyites were gone. As it stands, Rudyites are VERY MUCH IN THE MINORITY here and whether you like it or not, Rudy IS A LIBERAL. So, it seems to me that maybe you Rudyites need to get some thicker skin, because there are a lot of REAL CONSERVATIVES who are not going to stand by silently if the GOP nominates a liberal for the presidency.

I for one don't think we should let up on the Rudy FRiberals one bit. They need to know that we are conservatives and that we aren't okay with having a leftist nominated by the GOP for the presidency.
They are the ones who need to learn "patience," because they are the ones espousing leftist politics on a conservative forum.

I for one don't think we should let up on the Rudy FRiberals one bit.I'm not one to go away just because I espouse some unpopular views. From my viewpoint electing one of the republican three stooges is not a whole lot different than electing Clinton or Osama bin Obama

The way I see it, about 15% of FReepers support Rudy. THEY are the ones who espouse unpopular views. Opposition to Rudy's liberalism is the prevailing view here.
