Angry Obama the pothead is not how they remember him on Hawaii

.....Sen Obama's self-portrait of an angry young black man who became a "pothead" is scarcely recognisable to those who knew him during his formative years in Hawaii.

Now some are asking whether the first serious black contender for the White House may also be the first major candidate to exaggerate his drug use for political effect.

....The Illinois senator's depiction of his Hawaiian upbringing as a time of intense inner struggle, full of racial angst, is also a surprise to those who shared his time in the archipelago where the "Aloha Spirit" of racial harmony defines America's 50th state.

The verdant islands, with their golden beaches 5,000 miles from the American capital, are the home to a Pacific melting pot, where Polynesians, Japanese and Chinese have harvested sugar cane for generations and whites from the mainland, known as haoles, have long been a minority.

A keen basketball player, Sen Obama highlights in his book the feelings of alienation caused by "always playing on the white man's court - by the white man's rules. If the principal, or the coach, or a teacher wanted to spit in your face, he could, because he had the power and you didn't."

But that's not the Barack Obama, nor the Hawaii of the 1970s, recalled by his friends, teachers and team-mates. They remember instead the summer of 1978 when "easy-going Barry" was in constant search of a basketball game, strutting around the island as if he owned it, dribbling a ball from school to the golden sands of Waikiki beach as he belted out Earth, Wind and Fire songs in a distinctive, gravelly voice..............

I experienced a lot of anti-white racism in Los Angeles in 1978. Thanks to being fleet of foot, I escaped several attempts of beating up whitey, in the mid to late 70's. It was always a 3 to 1 ratio or more. And always black against white. I've seen very little racism from whites in L.A., since the late 60's. But a lot from the minorities. Especially hispanics, now. The Asians keep to themselves and have almost completely separated themselves from other races. They may be the most racist of all, but are not violent, like blacks and hispanics can be.

Yes, as did I in 1960s Richmond CA. It was always black on white racism. My brother and I were very frequently threatened in our neighborhood, the park, school, etc by a 2 or 3:1 ratio of black kids to us.

Sadly, this is not the first time I have heard some youngster go crazy over Obama and yet not be able to tell me one position the man holds. I have come to the very sad if not outright depressing realization their enthusiasm is due to the man's skin color. I can not fathom voting for a candidate based solely on gender or skin color - it just doesn't make sense. But, this appears to be the reason with these people.
If there were a young WASP out of Illinois with the same background and complete inexperience as Obama running for president the man wouldn't generate a blip on the national radar.
If Obama gets the nod from the Dems be prepared to be called a racist if you do not publicly support him.

Hussein Obama has already stated that there is a lot of literary license, I think he said "untruths", taken in his autobiographies.

The guy has started his campaign admitting he is a doper and a liar. Those two qualities will prevent him from achieving a nomination, certainly the presidency.

From adolescence onward, Obama wanted a race to belong to, a team whose accomplishments would reflect well upon him.  Of course, it was unthinkable in his liberal white family to take pride in the achievements of his mother’s race, so Obama gloried in being part of his absent father’s race.

From the age of ten onward, though, Obama desperately wants to be black: “I was trying to raise myself to be a black man in America, and beyond the given of my appearance, no one around me seemed to know exactly what that meant.” Honolulu’s paucity of African-Americans means he has to learn to be black from the media: “TV, movies, the radio; those were places to start. Pop culture was color-coded, after all, an arcade of images from which you could cop a walk, a talk, a step, a style.”

He cherishes every cause for complaint he can discern against white folks. He is constantly distressed at being half-white. Obama says he “ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of twelve or thirteen, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites,”

When his grandmother wants a ride to work because the day before, while awaiting the bus, she was threatened by a black panhandler, he is outraged—at his grandparents.

Later, when he moves to the South Side of Chicago in 1984, he eventually discovers that, like his grandmother, he’s sometimes scared of black males on the street, too.

His political history in Illinois shows that Obama has proven himself to be a nearly perfect Progressive-Democrat.

While in the Illinois State Senate, Obama is named Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee. His distinguished works include passing bill to assist children and adults who cannot afford health insurance; increasing funding for AIDS prevention and care; a law requiring police to videotape interrogations for crimes punishable by the death penalty; a law requiring insurance companies to cover routine mammograms; legislation to curb racial profiling.

Obama supports homosexual marriage, racial preferences, gun control, flag-burning, socialized medicine and the absolute right to abortion, including partial-birth abortions. He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive.

Obama is anti-war, voted against the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act, against privatizing Social Security and opposes the death penalty, three strikes laws and school vouchers.  He has no military service record.

Obama opposed the Defense of Marriage Act; would work to repeal it in the U.S. Senate; would not vote for any legislation that would restrict the ability of gays and lesbians to marry.
 
Obama opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act four times in Illinois. A similar bill passed the U.S. Senate 98-0. The Born Alive bill would have prohibited a baby from being born alive but left to die  according to the mother's wishes.

Obama opposed this bill not once, twice, or three times, but four times.
 
Obama took almost $90,000 in bundled contributions from the Council for a Livable World. The council is a well-known anti-defense organization.
 
Obama puts rigid ideology before what's best for the people of Illinois, and presumably he would do that as President as well. He has on several occasions made public his opposition to the NAFTA trade agreement and his belief that it must be negotiated. All the while thanks to NAFTA, Illinois exports $1.3 billion in agricultural goods to Canada.
 
Obama refused to vote for a bill in the Illinois State Senate that would have increased penalties for drug traffickers.

Obama voted against a bill that would have delivered the death penalty to gang members who murder first responders.
 
Obama was the only member of the Illinois State Senate to vote against a bill that prohibited early release for sexual predators.

Obama is also protective of civil rights for Muslims in the U.S., saying, "In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging," he laments.  "I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Obama is also responsible for amending Illinois state law with elements of Shari'a law.

Obama sponsored Illinois Senate Bill 750 creating the "Halal Food Act," providing for inspections by the Department of Agriculture to ensure that all food labeled Halal is prepared according to Islamic law.
