Iranian government source warns captive British soldiers will not be released until Britain issues formal apology to Iran. Iranian students call on government to demand release of former Undersecretary of Defense General Ali Reza Asgari in exchange for captives.
Chairman of Iran's Parliamentary Committee for National Security and Foreign Policy, Alaa Al-Din Boroujerdi, expressed his support on Saturday for the capture of 15 British soldiers by Iranian forces. Boroujerdi called the act "appropriate" and "legal" and said that it was a necessary step "so that foreign forces in Iran's neighboring countries will see that Iran is a powerful country in the region and that it will react firmly to any type of trespassing."
In an interview to the Iranian Student's News Agency, Boroujerdi said, "just as the relevant bodies reported, the British soldiers' entrance to Iranian waters was illegal, and is considered a violation of Iran's naval borders legally and internationally."

Time to shut down Iran's offshore oil terminal.

Since we're giving $25M to Kim Jong Il from Macau, the Brits might as well apologize to Iran.
What's next?

"Iranian students"
yeh, ahmuddy himself was one of those "students" in 1979/80 on an extended tour of our Embassy

You can almost see the sweaty little monkeys in Tehran doing the calculus on this preplanned kidnapping of the Brits.
The Brits, with one foot out the door already, will suffer for this at home and any thought of staying longer is out the door. Southern Iraq opens to Iranian agents.
Back channel messages that they will release the Brits if the Americans release the Iranian agents we are holding. If we release their spies they win. If we don't it increases the stress between the allies.
They are betting that their will be no military repercussions. I hope they've miscalculated in that regard.

"Of course you realize, this means war."
Or it would have when Margaret Thatcher was in charge.

I agree that military action is appropriate. Maybe not nukes at first. But this was an act of war.

If Britain fails to retaliate for this act of war, it can be concluded that the British Bulldog has not only been neutered, it has been effectively euthanized by it's new Muslim owners.
God save the United Kingdom.

Iranian students call on government to demand release of former Undersecretary of Defense General Ali Reza Asgari in exchange for captives At last we see the true reason for this unlawful abduction. The British men were well outside of any reasonable disputed border. In 2004 they were far closer, although still in Iraqi waters--and we released in 3 days. Iran's Mullahs clearly want to play Hizbollah to Britain's Israel. A real test for the fading Blair. Watching with anticipation...

I don't think that it's necessarily the Muslims but more so the pacifist liberals that have taken over. The Brits will likely complain to the UN and dither about while their people are abused. I expect that little will come of it really but I am hoping to be surprised.
I am still amazed that the Iranians would do this. This is inviting outright war with the US and UK. Something is up and I don't like the smell of it.

I'm not, quite frankly I'm not at all surprised.
This is inviting outright war with the US and UK. Something is up and I don't like the smell of it.
If there is an ounce of testosterone left in London AND Washington, that smell is going to become more agreeable because it will be the smell of burning Iranian Islamofascists on their way to their 72 virgins and all-you-can-eat buffet.

She was the last real MAN WITH BALLS Prime Minister Britain had......Blair has been the second best since, but now he is beaten and worn.

I agree that there is something else going on......Although, the theory of putting pressure on UNSC resolution of today that was chiefly sponsored by UK is not far fetched. Now what? The resolution passed......

If I were Iran...I'd also calculate that major warships will begin to arrive in the region this week...and rounding up Iranian fishing vessels and military craft will be priority number one. Any number of violations could be utilized...and the Iranians will find resistance in the Gulf (as Picard once said)..."to be futile". The big dog wins each time....and Iran ain't the big dog.
