Fifteen British sailors and Marines are being held by Iranian forces, says the Ministry of Defence.
More follows...
"Well...notice that the Iranians did not try to take any US soldiers....
They did not American soldiers - they were British soldiers from what I read, unless they misidentified them.
Also, I don't think Iranians are gonna risk going into Iraqi territory and capture American soldiers.
On their return home from NY, the plane should be shot down in deep water. I doubt Iran has the resources to recover the plane and reconstruct the events that led to its catastrophic engine trouble.
'Well...notice that the Iranians did not try to take any US soldiers....they know better!!'
I suspect they would've prefered American soldiers, but I doubt they can tell the difference. . . .
My son and I saw an old red pick-up truck with a Marine Corp bumper sticker and another bumper sticker which said,
It's God's job to judge the enemy, It's the Marine's job to arrange the meeting.
UHHHHH, I know....lol. Read what I wrote again after your second cup of coffee...(wink)
maybe we should take him hostage when he gets here.
I prefer that plane never making it to the ADIZ.
"You know, Mad Mullahs, the Atlantic is a large ocean, and things tend to get lost in the Bermuda Triangle. I'm sure you'll be meeting him soon, though."
"Ah so its ok to just flagrantly wander into another countries waters, and kidnap foreign soldiers to question them? Ah no. Its not.
You got things in reverse.
It's not the British who captured Iranian soldiers wandering in British waters, it's British soldiers who wandered (for whatever purpose we still don't know. Maybe spying?) in Iranian territorial integrity.
I turned to CNN to hear about coverage on this topic (since FOX is fluff this morning) and I'm sick to my stomach by the "unbiased" interview I just saw. What's worse, Anna coverage or the crap CNN spouts?
Where's the real news coverage in this country? (Besides here of course.) I can't stomach CNN, and FOX plain sucks nowadays.
That is what Hesb'Allah thought when they snatched the Israeli soldiers
That's a good point. If Iran didn't have any boats, we wouldn't have naval incidents like this anymore.
Where have you seen that? All reports show that Iranian vessels went into Iraqi water and took the British soldiers, who were on a routine patrol.
"I suspect they would've prefered American soldiers, but I doubt they can tell the difference. . . ."
From what I am reading, they seized these Brits after the Brits had been searching some of thier boats in Iraqi waters. My guess is that the Iranians knew it was Brits when they seized them. They are probably trying to divert attention away from something more nefarious going on in those waters.
Tony Blair does....
I doubt this will last more than 36 hours. The Iranians have pulled this stunt before, about two years back. I would look for the story, but if I recall, it was similar but not quite as blatant.
This and their other acts of war have been piling up, and it is just a matter of time before someone pulls the trigger.
But I doubt it will be today.
We shall see, as the French now have their Naval forces entering the arena.
but your probably right
Good point, JHP, hair trigger alert with less than well planned incidents possible.
Here's the poop on the parent ship the soldiers were seized from. (They were seized from small boarding craft, not this vessel itself, which is actually a good thing...for the Iranians.)

This will either devolve rapidly to open warefare, or smolder out, depending mainly on how the UK and the US react to it.
Watching very close this weekend.
I don't think he's coming after all. Iranian news is spouting some nonsense about GWB interferring with his visa. I think that's his way of saying he can't come now that he has British soldiers in his possession.
Long-standing treaties and relationships with Britain make just about any response possible.
Taking out the IRanian navy and any missile sites near the Strait of Hormuz would be an excellent preparation for an assault on nuke sites.
