The restless bubbling and frothing of the Sun's chaotic surface is astonishing astronomers who have been treated to detailed new images from a Japanese space telescope called Hinode.
The observatory will have as dramatic an impact on our understanding of the Sun as the Hubble Space Telescope has had on our view of the universe beyond, scientists told a NASA press conference in Washington, DC, US, on Wednesday.
"Everything we thought we knew about X-ray images of the Sun is now out of date," says Leon Golub from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US. "We've seen many new and unexpected things. For that reason alone, the mission is already a success."

You mean what the scientists were telling us was true about the sun ... wasn't true?
Somebody call ALGORE.....
It now wishes to referred to by the symbol:
algore has a disease called 'stupidity' he never looks up to the sky. The sky and the sun doesn't exist in the world of algore.
Shocking, isn't it?? However, I'm sure everything they have told us about the origins of the universe, the "evolution" of species...they are like totally sure all of that is right! No...really...I mean it.
The Sun has a fever...
That looks like the lining of my stomach right after I eat jalopeno peppers.
Lately it seems that every new observation is met by "surprise" or "astonishment"
by mainstream astronomy.

Well, you know, when you think you know everything there is to know; it can be quite startling to be smacked upside the head with totally new information...especially when it contradicts what you "knew".
Cool as hell.

But my SUV is the real culprit in in GWR* ? Heritics!
*- Global Warming Religion
"Almost every day, we look at the data and we say what the heck was that?"
Nonsense!
The science is IN.
We understand everything now.
Gore can predict the future!
right sway up = right way up.
Remember the idiots who said that fluctuations in the sun's output level aren't responsible for global warming? Does this mean they were wrong?
My inexcusable ignorance and unmitigated incompetence is occasioned only by the prodigious thickening of my cranium, which being as hard as case hardened steel and as thick as lignum vitae, prevent all but the tiniest bits of information from permeating the ash tint tissues of my meager brain.
