It's disappointing to think of what could have been given that McClintock was pretty much lined up to be the GOP nominee post recall. Probably Cruz Bustamante by at least 5 points, sad to say. California is not what it used to be. Too much porn perhaps; We used to own that state (Reagan, Deukmejian, Wilson);

Yeah but didn't Bustamante have some pretty high negatives? Who knows for sure but I got the impression that a McClintock win was possible.
