Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco will formally announce this evening that she will NOT seek re-election, numerous political sources tell WAFB 9NEWS. Blanco was elected Governor of Louisiana in November 2003, becoming the first woman to ever hold the office.

As recently as last week, Blanco said she would be a candidate. "My plan is to continue running," Blanco told reporters last Wednesday

"To be honest I think that [Louisiana residency] barrier is not as big as the paper says it is. "

You're right there. The state courts have been very lenient on letting people be on the ballot and "let the voters decide". If John Breaux wants to run, he WILL be on the ballot!

The Louisiana GOP is trying to head him off at the pass with this television ad.

However much he's making he can do better as governor, what with the graft and corruption and all...

Breaux will beat Jindal easily, as he is probably the most popular politician in the state. Jindal beats any other Dem though. Remember LA is very Social Conservative. Breaux is Pro Life and fits the state on Social Issues. It looks like the GOP may have blown its only chance at a Gov. pickup this year.

Breaux was actually my second fav. Dem Senator after Zell Miller (who was probably one of my fav. Senators). Breaux is at least Pro Life, which goes along way with me. I would vote for Breaux over Spector or Collins.
