Using Live Mice...

We technicians here in the Free Republic server room experimented with real mice attached to our computers. Unfortunately, not one mouse survived being plugged-in for more than a few minutes. We've reverted back to the hamsters, they're more durable and they know how to dance to the electronic pop music we enjoy.
You should notice a significant improvement in response time.
Go go hamsters.

This reminds me of something that actually happened at WGH-AM in Newport News-Norfolk, Virginia. The main daytime transmitter at the end of Warwick Blvd. (gone now to make room for the freeway) was down and we were working off the nighttime facility.
I was overhearing the 2-way communication between the chief engineer at the studios with the schematics spread out on his desk, and the two techs at the transmitter site. Every point in the schematics has a number and reference.
Out of the clear blue, I hear one of the guys at the transmitter say "Check and see if there's supposed to be a rat-to-ground connection at A-18".
The rest of it tells itself.
