I'm going to say it ...

"They" must have something on his father or are holding the twins hostage.

If it was something on him, he would tell them to stick it.

Nothing else explains this total lack of even trying to defend himself or his people.

"Bringing it on themselves?..."

Hardly, Gonzales in his zeal to show Mexico his loyalty to that corrupt state has used used Federal Swat Teams to affect the arrest of Dog Chapman and those two Border Patrol guys.

If you knew anything about the criminal justice system, you would recognize just how outrageous this is.

While I totally support the President's right to hire and fire US Attorneys, Gonzales' departure is long overdue

Personally, I suspect the President is unaware of how these actions by Gonzales make him look like a stooge of the Mexican gub'erment.

But I for one will be tickled to see Gonzales being walked out the door by security, carrying all of his awards from La Raza and all the other racist groups.

Gonzales has shown where his heart is. He has brought embarrassment to his boss, now it's time to go.

If Bush is so slow on the uptake to recognize how Gonzales' actions have hurt him, then he too needs to find new employment.

...most visible conservative on the planet.

Referring to Bush in this way indicates a true lack of understanding of the president.

But the fact is, we lost because of discontent over the war in Iraq.

The MSM-made discontent over the war in Iraq (they beat those bad news stories into the sheeple's heads)and the Republicans lack of cajoles to support the president on the war...or nearly anything else for that matter.

Excuse me, but he is reviled daily for his conservative stances by 80% of the planet.

It does not matter how you perceive how his stances compare to your own conservatism.

It only matters how the rest of the world perceives him, and they see him as a raging right winger.

You need to step outside your own head and truly understand how PERCEPTION drives this thing. And then you will realize that any thing that hurts the President hurts you and your particular brand of conservatism even more.

I am not one of the freepers who revel in controversy and vitriole, but sometimes I believe we need to set some things straight. I do not agree with everything the President has done in the last several years, but the bashing that is going on here on FR is over the top.

The Department of Justice is under the Executive, The Executive may legally fire who ever he pleases when ever he pleases. The President won't allow the Neocom, Schumer to force the firing of Gonzales.

President Bush will not be running for President in the next election, nor should the republicans allow the Clinton political apparatus to set the time frame of the start of the '08 campaign season. All here know that it has been much to early to get behind any particuliar candidate for President. The Osama v. Hillary meltdown is the big story for the Neocom press but we offer them a diversion by responding to non-stories like firings and the fight between our own Presidential hopefulls.

What? Can't deal with facts so it's off to the insults?

So typical :^(

That sounds good on paper, and initially I agreed. After studying the problems and comparing Presidencies, I've come to the conclusion that not term limiting is our best option.

I have to tell you that my position on this particular subject has changed 180 degrees in the past fifteen years. It came about because I was trying to support the six-year concept to a liberal friend (during the Clinton administration) and I eventually came to the conclusion it would be a bad idea.

And you want to hear something weird? I honestly believe that Clinton would have been forced out if he had not been term-limited. There are an awful lot of people who thought "Oh who cares. He's only got a little left anyway. How much damage can he do?" And the rest is history.

You're right that, at this point especially, the MSM would portray Bush as "flailing wildly," etc., if he dared to trash the Rats. One reason why he should have attacked the Rats all along in this administration, once they started going viciously after him. In politics, if you suddenly start doing something you haven't been doing before, it looks like you're either desperate or cynically pandering.

I agree. I have my differences with the President, as well. However, some of the comments directed at him make my stomach turn. I still have great respect for the man even though I think he needs to fight back the way he once did. When he used to fight and run circles around the dems and the media, I would get an adrenalin rush. I miss those days. I will always respect him for the way he handled the time after 9/11 and for his continued force in the war against the terrorists.

Well, Bush and his PR team might try fighting back against the liberals for once. They could actually win for once.
