I remember the Herbert W.veto override well. It was about cable tv. The dems howled that cable rates would go up without their historic and brave stand. ;)

I for one do not think that if the Moronocrats win it all in 2008 that we will have lost our country.
I am not a defeatist.
But what we do need is someone who does not care that the MSM thinks of them, to step up and lead the Conservative fight, this will be our Champion for POTUS.

Shows that Ford was The walking, talking Veto Machine.
More vetos per year, than any recent President.

Shows that Ford was The walking, talking Veto Machine.More vetos per year, than any recent President.
Except for Ronald Reagan.

"Except for Ronald Reagan."
I will help you see your error.
Ford served less than four years (remainder of Nixon's 2nd term). Reagan served eight years (two full terms).
Ford did 66 vetos in less than four years.
Reagan did 78 vetos in eight years.
Ford did more vetos per year, which is the claim I made, and have now proved for your understanding.

Thank you for the mathematical explanation. :)

If the dems win it all in 2008, then we may never see another Republican Government. With the momentum of the dem's takeover of the news media, and threats to silence all opposition, another dem win would be tantamount to an American "coup". When you mentioned that the democrats "take over of the news" media as if it is something new, I can see how simple and ignorant you are. The democrats have been in control of the news media since the beginning and in fact now they have some media competition from our side (talk radio, internet, etc...) something they did not face before. As far the we are not going to have another Republican government if the democrats win in 2008, then you are absolutely delusional. Defeatist and delusional people like you should not be working on our side, you nothing but a drain and negative impact.

Until the ink has flowed out of the magic veto pen and dried on the paper, it is nothing BUT a threat.
The proof is in the vetoing.
Pardon me while I don't hold my breath.

Yes, but Ford was still a RINO, and America lost South Vietnam on his watch because he wouldn't face down the copperhead 'Rats in the Congress of '75 who stabbed our ally in the back and let the Commies take over the whole damn country. No number of vetos makes up for that dishonor.
I've often thought that if President Thieu had just quickly arranged to rename Saigon 'Mayaguez', that they might have had a damn chance once Jerry got word of it.

What does President Bush have to lose by using his veto power? Is the media going to turn against him?!?!?

Good for Bush.
Clinton did not veto a single bill in his first 2 years with a Dem congress...the mere threat of a veto was effective for him (and Bush 43) in getting changes made before bills have been passed.
Bush won't cave to public opinion...if the Dems are successful in manhandling congress the white house will be flowing in red ink.

I would rather have "actual veto's" of Democratic legislation! The minority Republican Congress must also actually get around to finally growing a political backbone for always!
To: raybbr
Thanks for the chart. It shows that one of the greatest Presidents of our time issued many vetos, thus setting the tone, instead of allowing the tone and debate from being defined and set by RATs.
