One of America's oldest and most mainstream conservative organizations – whose membership has included Ronald Reagan and John Wayne – has been designated a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center for opposing illegal immigration, same-sex marriage and affirmative action.
Young Americans for Freedom at Michigan State University will appear on the list in April along with groups tied to racist skinheads, Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan.
The left-leaning Southern Poverty Law Center says its purpose is to combat racism and promote civil rights.
Kyle Bristow, chairman of MSU-YAF, argues his group simply "supports the sanctity of marriage, the unborn, and opposes illegal immigration and race-preferences."
"Our values are not extreme and the SPLC has gone too far by listing us as a 'hate-group,'" he said.

I see racism in groups of people that claim to have been discriminated against and other people loosing their civil rights.
The SPLC is actually working with the FBI right now on some old cases from the 1960's when civil rights demonstrators and activists were attacked.
The Justice Department is taking info from SPLC in its investigation into these old cases to see if federal charges can be brought on people who were never caught or successfully prosecuted in state or local courts in the 1960's.
That name always gets me. A law firm for indigent goobers?

The Marxists at Michigan's universities are irate that the citizens voted (58% to end it) to stop the state's racist hiring and admissions policy.
Understand that this vote killed one of the rat's sacred cows - racism under the PC color of affirmative action.
The universities have already received six month extensions to comply with Proposition 2, which outlawed gender or racial preferences in admitting students and hiring in the public sector.
“I don't think you’ll see any notable changes,” said Liz Boyd, a spokeswoman for Gov. Jennifer Granholm. “We’re still in the fact-finding process.”
These 21st century Jim Crow racists are desperately looking for a way to legally defy the color-blind society citizens voted for.
Complying with Proposal 2 could throw hundreds of useless, politically correct “Affirmative Action” bureaucrats out of a job and onto the serving line flipping hamburgers.
It could also seriously dent employment opportunities for the hucksters and con-men that offer propaganda seminars and indoctrination sessions in Marxist multiculturalism and diversity.
This vote killed not just state-sponsored racism, it killed jobs for racist bums.

When the Democrats regain the White House and increase their numbers in Congress they will be very tough on "terror". Only thing is that the "terrorists groups" will be organizations such as the NRA, this group that is mentioned in the thread, Conservative Christian Churches, Conservative talk radio, Conservative internet forums such as Free Republic and on and on. These groups will be prosecuted o the fullest extent of the law[s].
The groups and gangs that murder, rob, rape,and blow people up, in other words the real terrotists, these groups will not be bothered.
Why? because the Democrats are allied with thesr groups. They and the Democrat Party have the same goals.

The only epithet I have read about so far from MSU-YAF was a "stop faggotry" sign at a demonstration. I take that as an uncouth satire and in no case does homosexuality rise to the status of race in the spectrum of bigoted hatred except in the fevered minds of gay activists and their apologists. The immutability and naturalness of Race is beyond dispute, that of homosexuality is not. No doubt in the opinion of SPLC the book of Leviticus is hate speech and its writers in some sort of ancient KKK.
Another point of the SPLC was the allegation of immigrant hatred using the chapter's, "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day" as a example. OK, how about, "Catch a Burglar Day" or "Catch an Illegal Polluter Day" or on and on.
At most Bristow is guilty of bad satire and uncouth signage.
Appearing on the SPLC report is no little thing. From another article:

If law enforcement uses this SPLC report to pick targets to monitor SPLC is funtionally a quasi-governmental agency and appearing on that list could subject a person to persecution.
The above is to say nothing of the serious damage done to one's reputation by being branded a rasict or member of a racist group by a supposedly authoritative(ie good enough for the police to use.) source.
If Bristow wants a life after this he needs to sue and win. The other members of YAF need to sue as well or hide the fact that they were ever members and hope it never comes out, although stuff like that usually does.
Wikipedia has a credibility issue right now and yes I was surprised.
