Giuliani leads McCain by 16 percentage points, a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll finds.
WASHINTON (CNN) -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has opened up a double-digit lead over Arizona Sen. John McCain in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Monday indicates.
Thirty-four percent of registered Republicans support Giuliani, while 18 percent support McCain, the poll finds. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney are each tied at nine percent in the poll.
In a similar CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted at the end of January, McCain trailed Giuliani by only six percentage points, registering 26 percent to Giuliani's 34 percent.

Well, golly. Hillary was there on 9/11! And she still is.
In fact, Rudy was only there 3 1/2 months. So Hillary has him beat there.
I know what we are fighting for, but, what is his plan to fight terrorism? What is his experience with the military? The military is not the NYPD and FDNY. Believe me, it is alot different, I have lots of relatives that are one or the other and served under Rudy's reign of NYC. None by the way are voting for Rudy.

Here is the Rudy quote, in his own words.
"My mom is a lesbian and a conservative."
How did you happen then?
I cant believe the hatred for Rudy. you guys sound as cruel as some of the loony liberals bashing president bush.
The money is pouring in for Rudy, I've heard. He's built up a lot of momentum and since Republicans typically go with their frontrunners according to that article published a month or so ago, I'd say he's in like Flynn. LOL
----"If keeping the Presidency and retaking Congress is transforming the party, then I'm all for it."----
If keeping the Presidency requires becoming a second Liberal Party (As Rudy would make the new GOP), then it's better to lose.
Well that certainly relieves my fear that a RINO would get the nomination. (/sarcasm)
Really now? Cast your pearls of wisdom before this swine
I assume you speak of Rudy.
You do understand that their is a distinct difference between executive ability and commander in chief ability ?
I'm not convinced Rudy has CIC in him
Read my tagline.
>Fred at 41%!
>That's more like it!
That is AMAZING.
I'm pulling for Hunter, but if he doesn't generate the fire or buzz, I wouldn't be unhappy with Fred being the nom (except I hear he's a little light on illegals)
First of all Besides Duncan and McCain I don't think Fred Thompson has any military experience either. I have it on good standing from some Freepers that some of the military will vote for Giuliani.
Long very personal story. she was married to my dad obviously.
she is a genuine Reagan conservative
---"I cant believe the hatred for Rudy. you guys sound as cruel as some of the loony liberals bashing president bush."---
Conservatives don't like Liberals, even if they call themselves "Republicans." And we're only returning the hate back to Rudy, who has spent his life calling gun owners "fanatics" and gun companies "predators."
He spent more time working against Conservatism than most Democrats.
I've been saying that for a long long time now. But it doesn't resonate with them. They just keep going and going and going....
Rudy spent a couple months as mayor after 9/11 and then years collecting lots of money talking about it.
Never served and never wanted to.
Not CIC material, IMO.
I think TheLuckyOne sleeps with the fishes...lol
And neither did Fred Thompson. So does that rule Fred out also?
