I listened to Fred Thompson and felt like I was listening to a wise uncle on a Sunday afternoon sitting on the front porch. I WILL support this man for president. I even liked the answer he gave for campaign finance reform (even though I disagree with McCain/Fiengold.) I'm a true conservative, not a hyphenated conservative. I like Mr. Thompson. Thanks for your views

As I've posted on nearly every thread involving Mr. Thompson... I am a very big fan of his and hope he will become our next CIC. Anyone working in the campaign, feel free to Frepmail me with any help you need in Illinois (Southern).
I'm ready to work. - D
I saw the interview myself and he did not give any answer that I could disagree with. He could be a formidable force should he decide to get into it. I think he could push Mc Cain so far down in the polls that Mc Cain would throw in the towel. Understand that "dork" Hagel is getting into it tomorrow.
I agreed with everything he said, and his CFR explanation was reasonable, considering he referenced Barry Goldwater's questions about the influence of massive campaign contributions.
I think Fred's going to do it, and that makes me feel a lot better about '08.
Fred has more gravitas in his little finger than any three hundred Democrats you can name.
Welcome to FR, and GO Fred Thompson. Guess it'll be a few months before we know if he's going to run, though. One of the comments I heard was the fact that he was 64 (I think)may be an issue, but not with me!
How long was Thompson in the Senate? I understand that he didn't really accomplish much there . . maybe it wasn't his cup of tea.
He's still younger than McCain, or Reagan when he ran.
For that matter he's only 2 years older than Rudy and a year older than Newt...64 isn't too bad.
Granted, I was hoping for a post-boomer President in '08, but what can ya do?
"How long was Thompson in the Senate? I understand that he didn't really accomplish much there . . maybe it wasn't his cup of tea."
He spent as much time in the Senate as Hillary did. More then Obama, more then Edwards.
I totally agree. He seems to be a good man but a tough man if you BS him. We need a President like that during these times. All we need to do then is get the same type of people in our Congress instead of the candy asses we have now. It has been said that "one thing that Islam has going for it is total dedication and all we have degeneration". Some times we can be our own worst enemy. I think that if we are to survive against the rising control and numbers of Muslims, we need a President like Thompson and a change in our Congress so we can all go back to our dedication to our country.
Tell us, what's your definition of "accomplish"?
I just finished reading the interview. All in all, pretty unimpressive. I don't think he's got the fire in his belly necessary to get him the nomination.
It is almost like he expects to be drafted by the GOP convention that is hung up between the present candidates. Fat chance.
I don't even see him being a VEEP, but maybe if Giuliani likes him enough?
What legislation did he author? He supported the McKean Campaign Finance law, which is not a plus.
I like Fred Thompson a lot, who doesn't? I just can't see him being handed the nomination like he seems to want. What makes him any better than Brownback or Huckabee?
By "accomplish much," do you mean passing more laws?
Like the Federal Register isn't big and contradictory enough already?
8 years.
Best sounding real conservative I have so far seen or hear. Where do you send money too? That will be the next issue and question. The VP candidate will be Steele from Maryland or maybe Romeny. North and South ticket.
I think "treacherous bastard" is more accurate
To prevent duplication, please use the original article title. Thanks and welcome to FR.
