You're welcome (I was trying to simplify for the Boston crowd).

Have a pleasant evening and don't let the fools bother you. They literally don't know what they're talking about. They believe the IRA just a bunch of patriots they hear about on old Clancy Brother records.

"With 50 of the 108 seats declared, the DUP has 20 seats and Sinn Fein has 20, with DUP leader Ian Paisley and Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams both retaining their seats, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported on its Web site."

And the band plays on.

Ah, I get you, sorry about that! :)

Have a pleasant evening and don't let the fools bother you. They literally don't know what they're talking about.

I know, my judgement get clouded when I see their posts here, and elsewhere - I just hate them, but I should approach things more calmly!

LOL! No one actually wears those Aran sweaters over here! ;)

40% of the seats a piece - I can't see how that can mean peace!

"LOL! No one actually wears those Aran sweaters over here! ;)"

What! There goes half my wardrobe!

I used to go to New York every couple of years. While there I always made it to Tommy Makem's for dinner and entertainment at least once. I remember sitting in their quietly minding my own business once (it was early in the evening) when so great Irish patriots from Boston took the table next to me and were thrilling each other with their own personal knowledge and experience with "the troubles".

I almost spit my Harp Ale (sorry, I hate Guiness) when one went into detail about his wonderful time with a "lovely Colleen" in a cottage on the shore of Gall-o-way Bay.

I leaned over and asked him if that was near Galway Bay. He informed me the locals call it Galloway Bay.

Sinn Fein - political wing of the IRA.

IRA - illegal organization in Ulster and Eire.

Sinn Fein, as best I can tell, are a fascist-leftist hybrid.

All Leftism has morphed into a semi-fascist ideology of mystical nationalism, having more in common with WWII-era Japan than with the old USSR. It ties in with the cult of "indigenousness" and actually has long roots in socialism (the "sacred motherland" supposedly reverts to the common ownership of her "children" once the "foreign devil" has been kicked out). First World Leftism lacks this element, being based on guilt and self-hatred, but Third World Leftism most assuredly is stuffed to the gills with it.

Over two years ago I posted this vanity. I still stand by it.

"Conservative" is a very mushy concept - it can mean practically anything. Unfortunately, for some it includes support of terrorism.

Hold on I_T, what about the Yank tourists? Makes them dead easy to spot - anyone in a brand new Aran and hideous shades of green is bound to be a Plastic Pat.

Seriously I_T, don't let the eejits provoke you, we don't want you to get yourself banned!

I don't know where to begin with your post.

This might be a good start.

"A crop failure 160 years ago has no bearing whatsoever on the atrocities carried out by the IRA."

That is simply unworthy of comment, and so because I am unworthy, I mention it.

I agree that terrorists should not be negotiated with ever, at all ever, unless they of course are holding my family as hostages.

Many modern day National Movements have emulated certain tactics that The American Colonists first utilized against the British forces during the American war for independence, and freedom from unrepresentation and unfair taxation and all of that rot.

The Zionists who grew in number in Palestine (after purchasing property with actual money) used certain methods that were arguably "terror tactics" against British occupiers, and Arab adversaries.

The so called Palestinians took their terrorism to new heights when they "invented" the new tactic of waging guerilla warfare against unarmed, unwarned, and non prepared CIVILIANS, including little children, deliberately and with malice.

The common denominator seems to me to be the British imperialist paradigm. Those Englishmen always seemed to be around when these national movements were coming into prominence.

One distinguishing aspect concerning the three groups who were all at times opposed to the British occupiers, was that the Zionists never waged their campaign against civilians. My grandfather and his comrades in the bloody mess back in 1920 Ireland, that brought him to America cannot claim anything remotely akin. Neither can those Islamic nutjobs who are revered regularly by assholes in the modern day free press.

Things change.

Gerry Adams, who is the leader of Sinn Fein may be the worst terrorist that your ilk will ever deal with.

The pen being mightier than the sword and all of that.

You seem to be unwilling to wage war with words and pen against adversaries who would engage in politics and diplomacy once it actually means something.

Oh, and the failure of one crop did not mean that people should starve to death. The mass exodus of the Irish occurred only because the Irish were less than second class citizens in their own country. A form of modern day terrorism, that the British can call their own.

"I'm not saying we've been angels, but compared to the terrorists sinn fein ira or any other republican seperatist group, we have been fighting the right battle, to keep northern Ireland a part of the united kingdom, where it belongs.

I think that we are in accord on a lot.

I think that Ireland should be one nation because it just makes sense, but..if the people think else, .....well then that is how it should be.

Apparently, the people who actually live there agree.

Meanwhile, I got no time for murderers of any stripe.

I understand that you find Sinn Fein to be diabolical. You may be right. But why did so many Northern Irish vote for them? I'd really like to know. I take it you are a Protestant?

I don't doubt that folks many times will choose terrorists or tyrants--but who's values overrides those of the voters?

Yours?

Are you wearing your bowler hat now or did you leave it at home?

I see Countreegurl has been dismissed. But it is funny imagining you running around Mayo wearing a bowler!

Irish_Thatcherite has always had the same harsh words for the UVF, UFF, etc., when there have been threads about them.

How can you compare UVF and Orange Order? The OO is a legal organization. The UVF is a terrorist organization.

Thanks for all the pings Irish. Don't worry too much about the shinners. Their way is violence first, then marxism and there will always be a scumbag element gullible enough to be brainwashed by a clever politicians and propagandists. No good comes to those who inflected pain and suffering on innocent men, women and children, even if it was in the past. Those who choose to vote Sinn Fein yesterday choose to vote for a party that glorifies and benefited from their sadistic violence and hatred. Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do.
