RUSH: I meant to announce this at the top of the hour, and I had other things to do. It would have been a scoop then, but it's no longer a scoop. But I can tell you that the Fox News Channel has picked up 13 episodes of the 1/2 Hour News Hour. The two pilot episodes succeeded in their mission. Fox is going to pick those up, and they're going to be in production. They're going to start gearing up. These were pilots.
Now they're going to go out and get real production staff, writers and so forth (it takes four to six weeks of putting it all together), and then the 13 week run will commence. So 1/2 Hour News Hour has been picked up for 13 weeks by the Fox News Channel -- and 13 weeks is a goldmine in this business. That's where you get the chance to really strut your stuff, when get enough of a financial commitment there to gin up a great staff of people and so forth.
So they're off and running with that.

I'm glad the show got picked up. Of course the first couple episodes were a little rough, but I think we're going to start seeing it get better and better. Plus, the ratings for the first two episodes were huge, just as many people as watch The Colbert Report or The Daily Show.

Um, I heard the first episode sucked. Was the second episode much better?
I'll disagree with some of these others. You heard right. It was so embarrassingly ham fisted and weak I had to change the channel.
From the pilot: "According to latest polls, only 8% of Americans were bothered by the fact that Obama's middle name is 'Hussein'. However, almost two thirds of voters were disappointed to learn that his nickname in college... was 'gassy'."
The above is representative of what passes for comedy on this show. Sorry, but I'll get my conservative satire from the traditional source, South Park.

the anchorette who appeared to be constantly in moderate distressShe reminded me of Jane Curtin who did the same in the early years of SNL.

I saw some of those Jane Curtin skits, too. I think this gal did it a bit better. You could just tell she wanted to pass one but couldn't.

You could just tell she wanted to pass one but couldn't. Should follow Algore's advice and "Let 'er Rip!"

I definitely agree with you, the anchorette was one of my favorite parts. Her constant look of comedic distress and confusion was cute and funny.

I saw the first episode too. Mostly lame and mildly chuckle-inducing.
Maybe they'll improve if they get better writers. Otherwise, it's kind of embarrasing.

YouTube has many full time anti-Christian marxists who spend countless hours on YouTube lying in an attempt to sour young people to all things conservative and all things that favor traditional America. Would be nice to see conservatives get their act together, get their ideas out, and market conservative principles effectively.
Then again, there's always someone out there to blame for muddying up the message.

I saw bits and pieces during channel flipping and am disappointed and now flip past it during my flipping sessions. Doesn't belong on FNC. It will only serve as proof that Fox is only a propaganda tool of the right. FNC could do much better than this grade school quality show.

And it is not particularly funny.
I agree. This show doesn't belong on FNC. If anything it hurts FNC if for no other reason than it's a second rate production that has yet to even get a chuckle out of me after watching it. It's not funny, has no merit, is 6th grade quality and reflects badly on the whole FNC

could have used more polish.
Agree. FNC could and should do much better. I think this show detracts from FNC, bringing it down to the level of Air America. It's second rate, isn't funny and my first impression was the same impression I had of Air America.
It just isn't FNC material. Two thumbs down on this show.

the real shows to come may just have better production value, i.e. writing, no laughtrack, etc. I hope.
I hope so. FNC should do much better than this. No funny, 2nd rate

Ridicule of the left in a humor format is just the medicine this nation needs.
I agree on the need. I don't agree that this show fills that need. It's second rate and just isn't funny in my view. FNC could do much better than this.

and if you listen closely it's the same laugh
I agree. You can have a studio audience and still use a laugh track. I'm disappointed in this show overall. It just isn't quality.

Perfect word to describe the show, "embarrasing".
This show pulls FNC down in my view. It's second rate, not funny and FNC deserves better. A real disappointment and yes, embarrasing.

Of course I meant to say "embarras
sing". :)
I had hoped someone sensible at FNC would stop this dead in its tracks, or get some good writers.
I found it completely sophomoric.

Since you seem to be turned on by quoting out of context to attack Rush, Ann, and Fox News, I repeat my full comment, with the part you quoted out of context in bold face:
I watched both episodes. Although the first was definitely funny in some places, it was definitely rough at the edges and could have used more polish. It didn't look like Rush and Ann had quite gotten their timing and smoothness down right, sort of like actors at a dress rehearsal who still need to do more work before they go on stage before an audience.
The second episode, OTOH, was silky smooth and rib splittingly funny, so much so that it seemed to be over before it started. Rush and Ann were great, but the actual "news" segment was even better. I especially liked the anchorette who appeared to be constantly in moderate distress, as though she was a bit constipated, hoping to relieve herself, but thus far unable to do it.
To: Constitution Day
The problem is IMHO is that Stewart and Colbert have better writers and yes they are funny (libs or not). This show is lacking in both talent and writers.
You see Stewart and Colbert can attack both sides and happily get away with it. This show seems to only go after Dems so it seems mean spirited.
It's (as my Scottish Grandfather used to say) CRAP
