Edwards Not a Christian

Posted on 03/06/2007 1:44:41 AM PST by Trollkepr

John Edwards showed us he is not a Christian and has no idea what Jesus "would" think. The main tenant of Christianity is that Jesus, the only Son or God, came to Earth to die for the sins of man and that he was raised from the dead and rose to sit at the right hand of God. So what does Edwards comment that "I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs," mean? It means that if he was a Christian he would not have used the words "would be disappointed" but instead used the word "is disappointed".

As a Christian I am sure I disappoint my Savior Jesus Christ every day but mercifully his love for me covers that disappointment. As a Christian I am appalled that Edwards would think he had access to the mind of Christ and would use my God to manipulate people into voting for him.

Don't judge les you be judged....all of us are with sin.In the eyes of your Father who is to say Edward's sins are any greater then the sins you and I commit each and every day. Simply, try and live the life Jesus taught us too and pray for all others to do same. I pray everyday for God to forgive me for my sins depite my earnest attempts to be a good person.

..."Edwards is a trial lawyer"...

And, I believe he came into his wealth through a lawsuit.
Sometimes I think these people envy God and are determined to see if they can wrest His power away for themselves.

And that's just the "main house". The whole thing is over 28,000 square feet. And over $6 million.

It didn't take long for the people of NC to see through this shallow pretentious fool. He ran on the "I'm one of you" ticket. What a joke. He & Kerry were a perfect match. They're just alike.

I don't believe he's a Christian (although that would be for Christ to judge), but not for the reason you stated. I know many Christians who make the same mistake.

I don't believe he could be a Christian because he supports issues like abortion, stem cell research, and the homosexual agenda.

As I said before, his standing as a Christian is something the only Christ can judge, but I wouldn't want to be him on judgement day.

..."I'm having trouble with Christian logic, there's roughly 300 million people in the US, and 224,437,959 identify themselves as Christian, only 38,865,604 identify themselves as nonreligious/secular, if this is the case then why is the majority of our elected official's secularist? Don't Christians elect people that share their Christian views? Don't Christians want change in our secular schools from the current (marxist/socialist propaganda)? Don't Christians want laws that protect our unborn? Don't Christians want to protect the sanctity of marriage? I'm confused and disheartened that Christians don't have the faith or will to change our country for the good"...

I feel your frustration..It does not make sense until you consider what big megaphones can accomplish for a relatively small group of people in any society..It is called propaganda and the underlying culprit is called the MSM or Main Stream Media, whether film or print. In addition, Christian people over all are a gullible bunch because most carry out their convictions in daily life and most are so busy working jobs and rearing children that they do not have time for the contemplation required to realize what is happening in our society through the reins of government, academia and media. Consider that many people come home, tired from a long day at work to fast food or a quick microwavable meal and a couple of noisy, energetic kids needing to get homework done..If most men are like my husband, they want to tune in to ESPN as soon as possible and stay there until bedtime. Those who turn to a news channel often accept the spin they get from their favorite anchor person.
Also, consider that Christians are criticized constantly in that media and their leaders are often publicly punished for involvement in politics. Those in our government who are working hard to eliminate Christianity from public life are doing it for an age-old reason..They know the precepts are powerful and life changing and in reality, cannot be separated from politics. Christianity has to do with moral values which make or break society..Many politicians want situation ethics which allows them to be moral chameleons, changing with whatever the polls say today. True Christians cannot behave that way, for they know what the end of that kind of governance will be. I once read that a committed 3% of any society can, with dogged determination, effect revolution. I have no idea whether Hollywood + the leftist media + the left in academia, the government and also, the Christian left and the leftist from other nations who send money to break down our traditions, would rise to the 3% but I would guess that they do..The good news is that those of us who are Christian know that God is God and He will not relinquish His power to anyone on earth..Even a long lifetime is very short in the annals of eternity and those who challenge the Word and the Law of the Creator will soon learn of their folly. The consequences are already spelled out for those who wish to know what is coming.

I don't think Jesus would support a woman's "right" to kill her child.

A lot of Democrats tell us they are Christians but. the Bible will prove them all to be lying.

A Christian will not support a party who believes abortion is OK, nor will they support a party that says homosexual life style is OK.

If you are a Christian, you get your values from the Holy Bible
and, the Holy Bible speaks against the above subjects.

A person can change but, the Bible does not change.

Edwards was/is a leader of men. Therefore it is most definitely up to us to judge him. In this country we put our leaders in charge, leaders who mostly claim to be part of some Christan denomination.

Tell me, is is right to criticize and judge other Christians for criticizing and judging other Christians?

Using your criteria, which many do, Christians are easily misled into heresy and duped by those whose public ministries or when our political leaders promote false teachings and/or hide private immoral behavior. And how do we stop this, by judging their "works".

Where is the scripture that tells us to be stupid, blind, and obedient to any leader who claims to be a Christian and goes directly against God's commandments?

"Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment" John 7:24.

If someone not Christan or new to Christianity is struggling with their sins back-off and keep offering them hope but if one proudly claims the Christan faith and their actions go directly against that faith rebuke (One must judge before rebuking correct?) them. If they heed the advice good, as in Edwards case, claim "Sodomy"/abortion/hypocrisy is Ok under God's laws then proceed to call him a heretic. Pretty simple and biblically sanctioned.

Yes, even Hillary, Bill and even Jimmy Carter may go to Heaven.

When they meet the souls of the millions of babies who were aborted in the U.S. with their explicit support and consent, I hope they have a good explanation.

We should pray they do [make it to heaven].

Okay. I'll let God decide who gets into heaven. In the meantime, I'll be praying that the Clintons never make it back into power here on earth.
