Senate & House Coverage -- (March, 2007)
THOMAS ^ | March 2007

Posted on 03/05/2007 9:20:03 AM PST by Mo1

Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!

.

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,

Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats

And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Harry Reid "For the first time in 130 years an official in the White House is indicted and now convicted..."

I guess Clinton's impeachment doesn't count, huh?

It is okay for a POTUS to be impeached for lying under oath...but not okay for a minion too??

Was the Feinstein Amendment the one with Cornyn?

Well, that's not true. Just in the Bush Admin alone they busted a guy who was fooling around with Abramoff.

Boy....Domenici and Heather Wilson both called that US Attorney...

Even Sessions says that isn't good...

I guess they will be tarred and feathered...even though we KNOW the Dems have done much worse stuff.

I guess this will go to the House and Senate Ethics committees....ugh

As you say, you know the dems have done this and, as I said earlier, the Administration needs to be digging up the dirt and then calling a few dem senators to ask them if they want their calls brought up in the "investigation", because they WILL BE.

Unfortunately, I thought they were going to play Hard Ball from the moment we went to war...........then from the moment TOny Snow appeared on the scene........and so far.....I do not see the White House or any Republican Senators or Reps playing anything other than "I gotta save my OWN arse, and to hell with YOU"

I know...but, I hoping that not only this verdict..but what was said after the verdict...will let Pres. Bush know, once and for all that there is a cabal in Washington that plans on taking him down..and the country with him.

I don't know. It is unusually busy around here for some strange reason so I keep missing things.

McCaskell (looks like a washer woman) was up over the TSA, but I didn't get the particulars.

Now Kyl is introducing an amendment that actually does something for America, allowing those who aid terrorism to be prosecuted and giving extra-territorial jurisdiction. The only group the bill would harm are the bad guys.

Senate in recess. Off to a hearing with Claire McCaskill making it all about her and the difficulties her family faced because her mother tried to credit card her way out of financial difficulty.

Does McCaskill strike you as particularly unsuitable for a senate seat? She just seems so fumbling and off point.

Maybe I see dems through more critical eyes. I have to admit that to myself. It's too bad Jim Talent was such a terrible campaigner. He never looked engaged or cheerful. He always looked stiff and uncomfortable and like he would really rather be working in his office. Yet he was a good senator.

But we replaced one good senator with no charisma with a very inept senator with even less.

Yes...I agree with you...but, unfortunately, she is going to fit right in.

There are several Senators that I would describe the same way..and not all of them are the new ones.
