Senate & House Coverage -- (March, 2007)
THOMAS ^ | March 2007

Posted on 03/05/2007 9:20:03 AM PST by Mo1

Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!

.

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,

Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats

And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

I hope it is Coburn...because he is stubborn.

Rockefeller is probably SO excited about this verdict..when his butt should be in a sling for his leaks..

Rockefeller should be in federal prison. There is, however, a stay out of jail free card if you are both rich and powerful.

Leaky is angry that states will not be getting money whether they need it or not because we have to send it to Iraq.

My husband is up...and he won't let me watch the Senate...

Laura Schwartz said that Libby's conviction proves that Cheney was the one that sent Wilson to Niger...and that Wilson was correct about the uranium...and that this also proves that there was NO evidence to take us to war in Iraq..

When Neil asked her about Clinton's evidence BEFORE the Niger trip...she ignored him and kept saying this proves that Cheney sent Wilson...blah, blah.

She is a well trained liar and spinner. That is something I would not ever want to aspire to.

LOL. DiFi has such faith in the analyis of our intelligence agencies that she thinks the money should be spread around based on their risk assessmnent, BUT WE SHOULD NOT TRUST THEM WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT IRAQ OR IRAN IT WOULD SEEM.

WOW...John Gibson has Rick Santorum on...talking about some "new" stuff coming out about Obama.

Rick seems uncomfortable talking about it...he needs to remember he isn't a Senator anymore...and CAN speak the truth..LOL

I have noticed that a lot lately...the Dems have made cherry-picking a new "ART" when it comes to intelligence.

Yeah...I wasn't sure how Sean and his fans would come down on this..

I know that a lot of freepers that I consider close FRiends have come down on the opposite side that I did.

I have purposely NOT posted to them about this...because it certainly isn't important enough to have a fight with a freeper friend about.

I think it is just a difference of opinion. I think also, that since I was watching the speech LIVE, that perhaps my opinion might be more "in context" .

When you hear it as a soundbite...or just a part of the speech, it is more "jarring" I think.

Maybe some freepers are only hearing that part on the MSM and didn't hear her speech...but, also, some freepers aren't particularly Ann fans anyway. I have had some problems with her "forthrightness"...when she came out so hard against Harriet Miers, I was a little sad.

but.....I certainly didn't think she shouldn't make a living...which I heard is what Hugh Hewitt has asked for...that she get no more speaking engagements...

To me, that is like LIB overreaction...to try to stifle her chances to make a living because of some ears being upset.

If you disagree...or anyone...I respect that..and will not hold it against you.

I just hope that the Freeper friends that see it differently than I do...don't hold it against me.

Well, I don't disagree with you about Ann. I think she's terrific. I love having a flame thrower on our side for a change. And she is way too smart not to put things in their proper context, which she did, but which you would never know if you only get the MSM outtake.

Although I tend to be a bit prudish in my personal behavior and speech, I do not go all "holier than thou" with those who are less so.

I was listening to it live just as you were, and what she said has been grossly misinterpreted by the media (so what else is new )
In any case...I would not have chosen that particular word...I would have just said John Edwards is in the closet LOL
I keep saying it over and over again...but this righteous indignation by the damned Democraps is beyond hypocritical (and so is thie whole "Politically Correct" crap)
rant off

LOL...I was trying to explain all of this to my husband, and I even had a hard time saying the WORD the Ann said to him!!

I am like you Bah...although an occasional cuss word will slip out if I drop something or hurt myself...THAT word has never been part of my vocabulary.

However, I remember when my son and daughter were growing up...and one would get mad at the other.(and they didn't know I was close enough to hear them)...I would hear them call each other that...and I KNOW they didn't know what it meant (the gay part)...

So...they were repeating something they heard on the playground, I guess....and that is what Ann said it was..a schoolyard taunt.
