I think social conservatives can accept that there are many Republicans who will vote for Giuliani under any circumstances. Why can't the Giuliani supporters accept the fact that social conservatives who adhere to principles be given that same consideration?

I'm not sure based on the personal attacks the Rudy supporters endure that what you say is true. But I think you make a valid point about the social conservatives being hounded to support Rudy. Of course, no one would bother them if they didn't show up on all the Rudy threads. LOL But it is a good point.

Hopefully both sides can begin to understand each others' position and realize that it is not the place of the anti-Rudy folks to try and change the minds of or attack the Rudy supporters and it is not the place of the Rudy supporters to try and change the minds of or attack the anti-Rudy folks.

When the Rudy supporters stop lying about Hunter and Rudy's record, the Hunter supporters will probably not show up. I would hope you would defend Rudy if someone actually lied about him instead of posting his ACTUAL record.

Actually, the same could be said about Rudy boosters posting all the Giuliani campaign propaganda here on a conservative website. If you read Jim Robinson's posts, you know what I mean. So in all fairness, that pendulum swings both ways.

Sunsong, unless my mind escapes me, we just went through an election where the Democrats won the house and senate because the conservative Republicans got upset with GWB because he and his staff failed to be a fiscal conservative (allowed the Dem's in Senate & Congress to spend excessive on pork and social programs) and of his view on immigration even though he has protected us against terrorist. Because of this decision, we now have to deal with Ms. Pelosi, Reid and Murtha. What I find hard to understand is how or why should I get behind a new Republican candidate that is strong on WOT, but a fiscal liberal? If we all felt this way, we should have joined forces and defeated the liberals in the last election. Shouldn't we expect and demand that the Republican party find and run a true conservative we can all rally behind? I understand that a true conservative is a rare animal in the existing field of potentials, but their job should be to locate and field this person. If we had somebody that was a uniter and a true conservative, the Republicans would get behind this person and they could (would!) win in 2008. Today, as far as I can see, Newt is as close as we have to this.
