"This is basically lib talk, why get into the gutter with them. IMO"
The point I think she is making, is that the LIBS have been using inflamatory talk about Bush for years and getting a pass by the Liberal Leftist Pinko Media (did I leave one out?). So she says in effect, OK I can play your game...... and the LLPM (see above)can't call her on it because they have given the Wacko Leftists a pass on this.

Anyone on FR who wants to castigate Ann for her remarks should go to a gay/lesbian bar and drink himself/herself into a coma.

I think her comments were immature. Enough parsing words "she didn't really say directly he was a fagot".
She knew darn well what the impact of her so-called "clever" use of the language would do.
As I feel so many times about her flame thrower comments, why?

Let's put it this way........if Michael Moore or some other hairbrained liberal stated the exact sentiment in the exact phrasing in the exact way about a conservative candidate, conseravtives on this site would be in an uproar and you wouldn't be seeing the twisted pretzel logic trying to explain it. Understatement of the day! Maybe even the month! I have never understood that about this place either.

I wonder if any of the Ann-haters who are so overwrought about Ann NOT calling edwards a fag are even aware of the "Gray's Anatomy" blowup. I'm betting they didn't get it, but will pretend they did when called on it. "You use the word 'faggot' and you're going into rehab?" Coulter asked incredulously on Fox's Live Desk A-List. Your tagline reminds me of the one, "Do you know what you get when you assume too much? ... full of donkey meat."

I have never understood that about this place either.Because sad to say, when the opposition is on the right side of something (which isn't often, but it does happen) too many from our side go into denial about the facts of the matter. Too many just can't bear to say someone from our side did something stupid.
Unfortunately, when you're in the business that Ann is in (the Jaw Bone Media), in order to remain in the headlines, every comment must be edgier than the previous. Your whole craft is walking the tight rope between clever and poor taste. Ever so often a gust of wind comes along and you get blown off the high wire and sometimes even the safety net no longer exists. We'll have to wait to see how this one plays out. But I think she will find in this instance, no net was there to save her.

Micheal Moore and his ilk on the Left are generally incapable of executing the same sort of trick precisely because they are harebrained, so I'm not going to worry about getting in an uproar myself.
So, a fairly straightforward rhetorical device is "twisted pretzel logic"? Hmmmmmm......

Are there any Conservatives as prissy, primping and self-absorbed as John Edwards??? I think not. Romney is prettier than the Silky pony, but don't think he is much of a conservative either.

So, a fairly straightforward rhetorical device is "twisted pretzel logic"? HmmmmmmNo, the attempt to explain it away is. The knots are beginning to tighten.
To: Sioux-san
While he may primp and get ready for the camera, he certainly hasn't shown that he is queer.
Her comment just furthers the criticism that too many conservatives are uptight about sexual issues. Her comments weren't meant to be funny, they were meant to label and harm.
To: Whit
Edwards deserves this, for bringing up VP Cheney's daughter in the 2004 campaign. Excellent. I didn't recall this.
