Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.
I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, whos shocked? She obviously cant behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. Its not a lack of intelligence. Its an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if its unflattering.
(For those of you who dont know what Im talking about, heres audio of her calling John Edwards a faggot at CPAC today.)

Michelle Malkin -
***4:15pm update***
Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."
A smattering of laughter.
Not from this corner.
Crickets chirping.

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -
Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gores green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.
Heres what she said.
Id say something about John Edwards, but if you say faggot you have to go to rehab.
Im no fan of John Edwards, but thats just a stupid joke. Its over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.
Last year it was raghead. This year its calling John Edwards a faggot. Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.
Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.
Yep .. the dems will have a field day with Ann's comment
Your contention is not merely laughable. It is baseless, irrational, and idiotic. You must be a Democrat.
Wait a minute. I thought it was OK to be a faggot. Maybe she ment it as a compliment.
...proving you didn't get it at all.....
We can wipe out leftists, liberals and democrats on ideas. We do not have to reach down to their level of unhinged name calling.
I wish someone else would understand what you're saying. All this bellyaching over Ann Coulter's joke.
Hey Fellas! We're not in Aristotle's Lyceum, discoursing with learned though misguided folks. We're up against power hungry Lib/Commies or Neo Communists who would just as soon shoot the President if they could get away with it. They've already gotten away with calling for his assasination four times (twice by the same person). We need to play a little rough to deal with these people and it seems that many do not understand that.
Your contention is not merely laughable. It is baseless, irrational, and idiotic. You must be a Democrat.
Good line!
Forget the Democrats, how will (the few remaining) independents react?
Maybe Skeletor felt there was a vast, untapped reservoir of gay-bashing undecideds out there.
You know, if Ann keeps saying stuff like this the liberals won't like us! Let's tar and feather her and burn her at the stake so she doesn't offend those nice liberals again!
If you want to support a morally depraved section of people just because they like lower taxes, go right ahead.
But trying to force it...down my throat, under no circumstances.
First of all it got Edwards in the news when nothing else seems to work, so he should be thankful.
On the dreaded 'f' word (faggot) its use was intended to shock and point out how stupid hollywood has gotten. Used to be rehab was reserved for boozers and druggies. Evidently it now applies to the non-PC.
I'll give a rat's hind end when Rosie is called to task for calling Christians terrorists.
Free Speech is a wonderful thing, thank you Ann.
Yeah and where the picture - we have rules.
They'll laugh at you.
We dearly love Ann, here at FR, and enjoy her columns and the way that she skewers the Dems, but referring to her as a "Republican mouthpiece" is a bit of a stretch. Ann expresses her own opinions, but is hardly the mouthpiece of Republicans.
Conservatives typically enjoy the barbs she tosses in the same vein that Democrats love Maureen Dowd or Helen Thomas' barbs tossed at Republicans. Does that make either (or even both) of them the "mouthpiece of Democrats"? Hardly.
Ann says what she thinks and she has a way of saying what many of us think. We know, based on recent history, what kind of rocky ride that Ann is in for. Newspapers will drop her column, gay groups will demand apologies, Edwards will turn this into a "Let's-show-the-Republicans-that-they-can't-do-this-to-me,-contribute-to-my-campaign" event (already in progress), she will be accused of "hate speech" and blah, blah, blah. I, for one will not abandon Ann Coulter. I don't have to endorse her comment about Edwards to continue being a fan. Ann remains one of the few columnists willing to "get in the Democrats' face". If we abandon her, we abandon the one true, strong voice that we have in the media that will confront the left. And, we abandon the most prominent voice on our side who has been subjected to outrageous attacks (personal and public) by the left.
IMO, this will be turned into an attempt to silence Ann by the left. Do we believe in a strong voice for our views, or will we be tacit supporters of the effort to silence her? It is time for us to decide what we believe.
Both statements are stupid and baseless, thus equally worthless contributions to political discourse.
