Now, here's a guy I could vote for.

Sure, I have a difference with him here and there on a particular issue, but I agree with about 85-90% of his positions, which is more than sufficient.

I can't say the same about certain other candidates.

The word used on FNC was that he was "seriously" considering the Presidential run.

I am loving this....he will wipe the floor with the dims, he will lead this county with honor and he may even save the Republic.

While there are still some good options for us if he doesn't go through with it, this is a real man. A man that I could stand behind without reservation and one that I think could politically stomp anyone that the 'Traitor party' could ever come up with.

For my grandchildren and for our country's sake, please run Fred........you will have my vote.

Thompson didn't look very healthy to me in the ad he did for Sen. Corker- hope my impression was wrong.

Giuliani is still be my first choice, at this point, but if Thompson runs, he would be a very close second choice.

Somebody get a new FR poll up and running that has Thompson on it.

So far he's looking like a keeper here on FR.

This is going to be a "celebrity election." Who does best on TV will be the choice. Thompson did absolutely nothing in the Senate; therefore, he makes a good celebrity.

Here are some quick links and ratings of Thompson during his Senate tenure:

National Taxpayers Union>Lifetime A (... seven grades of "A" and one of "B+")

American Conservative Union: Lifetime 86 (out of 100)

Americans for [Liberal] Democratic Action: 10% of 100 in 2002

Overall, pretty solid.

I know who Thompson is and I remember him as a TN Senator a few years ago, but I don't know anything about his voting record on critical issues. What is his position on domestic issues such as right to life, same-sex "marriage", gun control, taxes, etc? And what is his position on the WOT? I tend to think that he would support Bush's policy of taking the fight to our enemies instead of waiting for them to hit us at home again, but I don't really have any evidence for that.

I don't want to mistake his tough guy film actor persona for his actual political stance, and that would be easy to do.
