The Hunter-Thompson Ticket?

THAT would be awesome!!

Careful, there might be a potential problem with "name recognition" and confusion with Hunter Thompson, the writer.

Just imagine the jokes about "Hunter-Thompson, the gonzo ticket", or "Fear and Loathing in DC" or even "Fear and Loathing On The Campaign Trail, '08". /grin

Hello,

We are again, on the same page. I have avoided many threads for the same reason. This is such a unique time, with no clear primary choice on either side. In 2000, we had an open primary field, but knew we would face Gore. In 2004, they had a (pitiful) open primary field, but they knew they would face President Bush.

This time? Wide open on both sides. I have not endorsed anyone, still evaluating ...

I don't see any absolute show stoppers although the McCain Feingold thing gives me some pause.

Yep, when I see candidates who voted for McCain Feingold it does give me pause. That would include Duncan Hunter.

I really like Fred but wait till they find out he is a SMOKER? You all saw what happened to Obama. Being a smoker today is worse than being a terrorist.

The Hunter-Thompson Ticket?

From your lips to God's ears! This is TOO sweet to be true, unless Fred has a tainted Hollyweird escapade or FBI file that Hillary has up her sleeve!

Otherwise, ladies & gents, WE'VE NOT ONLY GOT A LEGITIMATE PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDER, BUT SOMEONE RECOGNIZED BY MOST HOUSEHOLDS! WHOOOO-HOOOO!

On June 29, 2002, Thompson married Jeri Kehn, a political media consultant at the Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, and McPherson law firm in Washington, D.C. She once worked for the Senate Republican Conference and the Republican National Committee. In October 2003, they had a daughter, Hayden Victoria Thompson. He also has three grown children, one of whom is deceased, from a previous marriage, and five grandchildren.

Although he announced in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks his intention to seek re-election, upon further reflection, which seems to have been prompted in large part by the sudden death of his daughter from unrelated events, he decided not to pursue this course.

There is no perfect candidate. I personally would have voted to throw the SOB out, but if that is the worst you can say about the man then he must be a pretty solid choice.

I look at his votes on Abortion, gun control, taxes, lifestyle issues, military/foreign policy and trade, his ability to articulate the conservative message and see a man who can WIN and govern from the right side of the political spectrum. I won't throw all that away just because he didn't vote to kick Clinton out of office. Geez talk about a single issue voter.
