WOO HOO!
According to FOX, Thompson is considering running because the top tier candidates are all SO UNAPPEALING TO CONSERVATIVES.
LOL!
Let me know if you figure it out!:)
His last rating from the Federation for American Immigration was 50% in 1996. I could find no statement by him on McCain-Feingold, although he is said to be close to McCain.
He supported CFR. On the other hand he went after democrats big time for campaign financing abuses, including Chinagate, when he chaired the Government Affairs
Committee. The dems hate him.
Because he's conservative, he has experience, he has charisma, and he has great recognition (because of TV & movies).
There actually may be a candidate I can get behind and be happy about voting for in the primaries!
I haven't liked any of the choices so far.
LOL. That is silly high school humor but I did laugh!
"Kelsey Grammer is a republican?"
Yes, he is.
Excellent news! Hope it's true.
You folks at FR are really slow. I suggested this years ago, and got poo-poo'd for the effort. It such a good idea that it almost screams.
My husband actually worked for Fred on his first campaign. I think the assessment that he is to the left of Tancredo, Hunter and Gingrich, but to the right of Guiliani, Romney and McCain is pretty dead on. He was tight with McCain -- they chummed around quite a bit on Capitol Hill -- he respected McCain's service.
Personally, I like the guy. But even if Fred jumped in the race, I don't know that I have as of yet, found my favorite candidate yet. There are concerns that I would have as a conservative. ACU ratings, etc., do not tell the whole story by a long shot although I know many seem to rely upon them as though they are the Holy Grail.
It would be relatively amusing, however, to see Fred once again go after Hillary.....just like old times.
The reality is, Howlin, having worked in this silly town through three administrations....very, very, very little changes. Taxes go up and down, sure. Policies come and go. Personnel changes here and there. But even if you look at speeches and transcripts from hundreds of years ago in the Senate/House and from the White House, we're still arguing pretty much the same things, just a little different flavor of problem here and there.
The big divide for me will always come between liberal (them) vs. conservative (us). There may be different shades of what that means, but the reality is that Hillary, Obama, et. al. will be the folks I don't want in the White House most of all.
It is a matter of priorities, I guess. There are those in the anti-pornography fight who spend their time trying to get Penthouse and Playboy off the shelves where I think we need to start with eliminating child porn and the snuff films.....know what I mean?
It is up to each of us to not merely rely upon someone's word or rating system for these candidates - we have to do our own research and choose the candidate that is closest to our ideological preference. Then, when the hoopla is over, we have to take on whatever form evil will take on the other side. And we have to do it like our life depends on it because frankly, it does. That is where the rubber will meet the road.
I dunno -- you'd think the Braxton Hicks would make me more feisty, wouldn't ya? ;)
Who was the country star he dated for quite a while?
Even if the roles were reversed, I'm not voting for Rudy.
Whimpering; we're whimpering!
If this is true...a lot of people in the Volunteer State will be on the moon!
Next!
Lori Morgan
They discount the public. We here bemoan that fact that most of America only follows the MSM. If that is true, then we can reasonably assume that they follow evening programming very closely and know of the former prosecutor on Law and Order. (I admit to being a L&O addict.)
That being said, it is his name recognition as an actor and his vibrant and sometimes forceful spirit while he served as a Senator that can bring the public to give him an honest look. There is nothing wrong with that. It's possible that the public already has a favorable opinion of him and would think he is trustworthy.
The rest of the nation might still be asking... Who is Hunter? And I would guess that Hunter's team might not like the news the evening. Name recognition does matter.
Carl Cameron talking about it now .. advisors plan a meeting next week. WOO HOO!!
Well, I've got a funny feeling in my left arm. But that could just be the two cords of firewood I was just stacking.
WOW....he has my vote already
