One-third of voters take issue with a presidential candidate who supports gun control or has been married three times like Rudy Giuliani, a new Time magazine poll shows.......30 percent couldn't back a candidate who favors gun control, while another 35 percent have trouble with someone with three marriages. That includes 48 percent of "born-again" white Christians. But the survey also shows 56 percent don't know Giuliani's marital history, 68 percent don't know his stand on gun control (he's been saying it's a state matter), and nearly 80 percent don't accurately know where he is on abortion rights (he favors it)....Giuliani is partly an unknown quantity nationally..... according to 1,144 registered voters nationwide.

Within six months of being elected Mayor, Rudy was splashed on the front page of the New York Daily News buying clothing for Christine Lategano, his "mayoral aide" (that's kinda like being a WH intern but with New York-style kneepads). Giuliani in heat was anything but subtle. He took girlfriend Lategano to baseball games WITH his kids, until his wife had had it----news pictures still exist of Lategano and the married Mayor in restaurants across the city (not having sex, though. That came after the photogs left, and in City Hall, no less, according to Hanover's own eyewitness report after a surprise visit to her husband in City Hall).
Lategano may have been hot in a tight clinch, but she was widely disliked for her rank incompetence and arrogance. Giuliani finally dumped her for newer sexual thrills, but she got paid off for heating up the Mayor's libido with an apartment and a cushy city job, arranged when Rudy dumped his appointee and loyalist, liberal honcho, Fran Reiter, from the job so Lategano could run the city's Tourist and Visitor's Bureau at $250K a year.
By 1998, Rudy had a new mistress (now his wife) and apparently was in the throes of sexual Valhalla, getting sexually blitzed every chance he could as a busy big-city Mayor who loved grabbing guns. He took his sexual plaything to a restaurant a few blocks from Gracie Mansion--so that his children and their friends would know about it. By 2000 things Rudy's sex life was getting lots of newsplay. Married Rudy was squiring his mistress to city parades and other Mayoral public events. (As one astute FReeper noted---goodness, gracious, great balls of fire. The thrills just never let up for the gun-grabbing mayor)
Rudy then publicly announced to the press his separation from his wife WITHOUT EVEN TELLING HANOVER. At the time, Rudy was taking his mistress---not his wife--- to cancer treatment sessions. He never bothered to tell his wife about his illness. Rudy then decided he could not live with his sex playmate out of his reach, and planned to bring his mistress into the Mayoral home (on the spurious claim that Hanover wasn't helping him through cancer treatments---an illness he had not even bothered to tell his wife about).
Rudy announced he wanted to "divide the mayoral home" with wife AND mistress---a transparent ploy to force his wife and children out into the streets. Hanover was forced to go to court to declare Gracie Mansion the marital home so as to exclude Rudy's sex playmate. The judge acquiesced to Hanover's plea.
Thwarted but not defeated, Rudy moved in with a happily civil unioned gay couple (apparently also in the throes of sexual blitz-dom), while his wife fended off his relentless efforts to ditch her. On Mother's day 2000, while still married, Rudy publicly paraded his mistress up and down Second Avenue for newspaper pictures. The evilness of this marital betrayal astonished even blase New Yorkers.
Giuliani's vendetta against his wife and children was still not sated. He cut the mother of his children's official security detail......but he provided government security to his mistress who had no {{ahem}} official duties unless you consider getting Rudy sexually blitzed to be "official".
Sex always wins out with Rudy. Rudy-in-heat is something else, ain't he?
Not so smart to believe everything you read in the media, and let's not forget that Murdoch recently held a fundraiser for hitlery and supported McCain in the 2000 electon.
It would suck to have Rudy as the republican candidate. He's certainly not someone i would stand on a corner campaigning for in the rain.
Yeah, the MSM keeeps telling us he's our only hope, and the Rutards were swallow the bait, hook line and sinker.
If the race narrows to Hillary Clinton versus Bill Clinton (redux), I'd still vote against Hillary.
You can be SURE EVERYONE will know Giuliani has clay feet on these subjects. The DEMCORATS will see to it in the campaign.
And I don't believe those figures about the numbers of people who oppose gun control - the number is probably more like 50% or better - which what polls directly related to that subject reveal.
And a Constitutional Right is NOT a State Issue Mr. Mayor - AND Mr. ROMNEY!
Here begins the unraveling of the Giuliani boomlet.
I wouldn't vote for this pompous ignorant neo nazi jerk if he were the only guy running, but having listened to Hanover, I do tend to feel a tiny smidgen of tolerance toward that aspect of his life.
There are no perfect candidates at this point who have a chance in hell of being elected.
One very astute Freeper posted: "Rudybots: Do you sometimes feel like you're being lured in, like a child to a pedophile with an open handful of candy?"
So much for the "he's electable" mantra.
Amen.
That's an excellent point. Why have his media outlets (the NY Post and Fox News, for example) devoted so much TV time and column space to their efforts in recent months -- often to the point of engaging in blatant propagandizing and distortions of the truth -- to serve as Giuliani's biggest cheerleaders?
It has been instructive to watch the "Rudy One-Noters" try to stampede the herd. We are about one minute into a fifteen round championship fight here.
Sort of makes Bill Clinton look like a boyscout, doesn't it?
The biggest difference between Hitlary adn Rino Rudy is he looks better in a dress then she.
That won't last long.
Being pro-life and pro-Second has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH "PERFECT CANDIDATES."
Being pro-life and pro-Second has EVERYTHING TO DO WITH VOTERS HOLDING FIRM TO PRINCIPLES, PRINCIPLES THAT LIVE UP TO THE US CONSTITUTION.
That's what we voters do.
Candidates can either respect voters' principles and TRY to live up to them, or not.
It's the candidates' choice to make. Voters will do the rest.
IMO Rudy's surge has to do with the uneasiness voters have with the threat facing our country, not with anything else.
I think that the biggest difference is that Rudy would fight the GWOT, and Hil would Somalia us out faster than you can say 'pantsuit' three times. But a close second would be the fact that Rudy's legs are way nicer than Her Cankliness's.
