Sure, I can post the backup information, but it won't sway your already hardened position.

Bill Number: S 686 Date: 03/21/2005 Sponsor:Sen Frist, William H. [TN]

Roll Call Number: 090 Bill Passed (House) How members voted

Representative Duncan L. Hunter did not vote.

Official Title of Legislation:

S 686: A bill to provide for the relief of the parents of Theresa Marie Schiavo.

Vote to pass a bill that would allow the parents of Theresa Maria Schiavo 30 days to bring her case to federal court.

Highlights:

- Grants jurisdiction to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida to hear, determine, and render judgment on any claim relating to the alleged violation of any right of Theresa Marie Schiavo

- Instructs the District Court to determine “de novo” any claim relating to the alleged violation of any right of Theresa Marie Schiavo, which means the Court should consider the merits of the claim without reference to the issues previously raised, considered, or decided in prior state court proceedings

- Specifies that nothing in the Act confers additional jurisdiction on any court to consider the issue of assisted suicide or state laws regarding assisted suicide

- Expresses the sense of Congress that the 109th Congress should consider policies regarding the status and legal rights of incapacitated individuals who are incapable of making decisions concerning the provision, withholding, or withdrawal of foods, fluid, or medical care

Again, THE LAZY DUNCAN HUNTER COULDN'T MUSTER A VERY IMPORTANT PRO-LIFE VOTE!!!

Perhaps you would be so helpful as to post the whereabouts of Rep. Hunter (was he in Washington, DC), and his physical status when this vote tool place ... and we could also use a total of the votes for and against the bill.

Because the vote occurred during a special session called on short notice during the congressional Easter recess, 174 House members were not present for the vote

Oh, but Hunter has the exact same stance on PBAs as Rudy does. Isn't that interesting?

OTOH, Hunter wants birth control pills outlaws, because he says that taking them ( and no, he isn't talking about the morning after pill, not RU47 ) is the same as having an abortion.

Why do you have to dump on conservative Duncan Hunter? If he hasn't got a chance, as you say, then what is your purpose for doing it? Hunter has built a career of solid pro-life votes and support for the sanctity of life. Any reasonable person would see that and leave it alone. It is one of his assets. But you've got to keep true to form and tear conservatives down for your own personal agenda. I guess we were all fooled by your anti-Clinton shtick to believe that you were a conservative. The mask is off and we're not fooled anymore.
