You know, let's just for a moment say that everything you say is correct regarding the anti-Rudy comments. Yes, some anti-Rudy people have said some harsh things, some that I personally disagree with as well. What I don't understand is this, why do you allow what anyone *says* determine who you are going to support and vote for? It is childish to allow people's words, regardless how hateful, mean, rude, they are to determine how you are going to vote. You are voting for Rudy (according to what you said) for reasons that have nothing to do with Rudy's position on any of the issues. If you want to support Rudy and vote for him, by all means do so. But don't do it for the reasons you stated.

It is just silly to say you are going to vote for him because of what people on this forum said to you or someone else. Why cut your nose off to spite your face? If you can't see that, fine, do what you gotta do, but don't expect conservatives on this forum to blow kisses to you and wish you luck--we won't. Rudy may get nominated, but he will not win the election, because we "purists", "religious fanatics", "extremists", "narrow minded fools", as your side calls us, will not vote for a liberal republican. By they way, there's been people on your side who have been just as vicious in name calling as well. Your side certainly can't claim moral superiority in that department.

I want to address the comments you made about serving your country. I did not disrespect you as a person who served their country. You are mixing things up here and one has nothing to do with the other. Are you saying that because you served your country honorably that you are immune from being criticized on this forum? I think it is unreasonable to think that you cannot be criticized or disrespected for having a opinion about something, especially supporting a liberal republican, which by the way, over 60% of the people on this forum do not support. I am confident that you are respected by every person on this forum for your service to your country. I am proud of you and respect you enormously for making a tremendous sacrifice to your country. But it is not fair, and it certainly is not honest, that you would bring your military service up and use it in this context. As I said, one has nothing to do with the other.

I think you went over the top when you compared a few people on FR to those who called you a baby killer 30 years ago. Not only are you taking things out of context, you are making a dishonest comparison. Talk about offending people, that is pretty offensive, and even hateful in my opinion. The people on FR are probably the ONLY people who would have never called you a baby killer had FR been in existence back at that time. And for you to compare some of these people on FR to those kooks who said such awful things to you back them, that's pretty cruel friend.

Support Rudy if you want, but I suggest you find a better reason to vote for Rudy than just saying you support him because a few people offended you with *words*. That's not a very convincing or persuasive argument if you ask me.

Your prolix post equivocates "*words* with these particularly odious words "treasonous liberals."

That "your" side will not admit into evidence these words, shows your argument to be tendentious, intellectually dishonest, and a specious equivocation of the elements of the tort.

Now I'm not going to explain all of these big words to you, but until you stop framing the argument to prove your point (begging the question), you cannot have a civil debate on this matter.

Let me chime in here dmw because as a more recent veteran than Psycho-freep I too have a take on the subject. We who have stood sweating in the jungles on SE Asia (like P-F did), or frozen our a**es off on some godforsaken mountain top (like I did) do not take kindly to being referred to - even by insinuation - as 'traitors'. There were two separate a**holes on related threads who actually called me that in two separate posts. One even said "I spit on you!"

I calmly replied to both of them that it was ironic that I had spent 12 months sleeping with a .9 mil half-way around the world just to preserve their right to call me a 'traitor' or to 'spit on me'.

No we're not pretending to be immune to criticism. But those of us who have laid it all on the line for all the rest of you deserve a little better than to be called such names - directly or by insinuation.
