Now that Jim has answered you, I'm gonna reply.

From the remarks contained in JimRob`s posts in the last month, sounds like FReepers Eternal Vigilance, Spiff, Narses, dirtboy, Delphinium and others, myself included, are in agreement with Jim`s basic ideas of conservatism and the direction he wants Free Republic to take in the future. That would be to advance conservatism and oppose liberalism, in whatever form it takes.

While I do support limited govt, I also know that there has to be some compromise on taxes and budgets. Its not a 100% deal for me. But there are certain issues that I won't compromise on. I don't compromise on the life and liberty issues like abortion, free speech and the 2nd amendment. I also don't believe compromising with liberals on immigration, gay rights and limited govt advances the conservative agenda.

With Rudy Giuliani, conservatives are promised 20%-25% of what their looking for in a presidential candidate. That isn't good enough. Especially on the social issues. With Rudy as POTUS, conservatives get zippo on the social issues. With Reagan most conservatives got a 75% return or better from his policies of the 1980`s. Even Bush43 has given most conservatives maybe 50% of what they were looking for. On the social issues, Dubya has been pretty solid. On domestic fiscal issues, expanding the federal welfare state bureaucracy, immigration policy and CFR, Bush has let conservatives down tremendously.

So now conservatives are being asked to support Rudy for Prez. I don't buy into his candidacy. It doesn't work for this conservative. Maybe as VPOTUS, otherwise I will not vote for Rudy in the primary phase of the nomination process. And I can't see myself voting for Rudy in the general election either. Hopefully, that won't be an option when the time rolls around.

What I am talking about is not who you support or why - but how you treat those who don't agree with you.

I'm not asking you to support or not support anyone. You are free to do whatever you choose and to be responsible for your choices. I am talking about you and others who are so alienating of those who do not and are not going to agree with you. Why do you even want to come on Rudy threads? There is nothing new ever said by the disruptors. It is just spam and name-calling. And yes, the Rudy supporters are guilty of being disrespectful too. And yet, never to the degree of your side. Not even close. Calling Rudy supporters treasonous liberals is beyond the pale.

In sum. I get it. You don't support Rudy. You never will because he does not pass you basic litmus tests. I get it. How many times do you feel you need to repeat the same thing? And why do you choose to insult those who do support him? I don't think you are as bad as some, btw.
