Carter Rips Cheney's 'Abysmal' Iraq Record Says V.P. Has Often Been Wrong; Also Expresses Surprise at 'Personal' Attacks Over His Recent Book
Feb. 25, 2007 - In the 26 years since he left the White House, former President Jimmy Carter has traveled the world as both peacemaker and provocateur -- earning the Nobel Prize in 2002, and drawing fire for diplomatic freelancing and his controversial new book: "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid."
Carter and "This Week" anchor George Stephanopoulos covered that ground, plus the politics of Iraq and 2008, when they met at the Carter Center in Atlanta (click here to link to the organization's Web site) for Carter's first ever "This Week" interview.
But they began with the work that makes Carter most proud -- his quiet crusade against killer diseases extinct in the wealthy world but still ravaging Africa.
Carter: We've deliberately picked out the poorest, most destitute, forgotten and needy people on Earth, so it's no accident that more than half of them happen to be in the continent of Africa. We are out the boondocks, in the smallest, most isolated communities, both in the jungle areas and also in the desert areas, where they suffer from special diseases. We've pretty well adopted -- neglected diseases is the official word by the World Health Organization. These are diseases that no one else really cares about much, or knows about.
Stephanopoulos: You put a special focus on Guinea worm
Carter: Yes.
Stephanopoulos: especially on your last trip in Africa. And I can only speak for myself: I'd never heard of it before I started studying your work. But it's one of the most horrific possible
Carter: It is.
Stephanopoulos:
diseases.

God Bless Ronald Reagan.
Oh, if it were only true
Only in Jimmah Cahtah's warped mind.
Buy your tickets today!
I'd bet Jimmah hears that alot!
Leave the MEN alone and go attack a peanut!
But not nearly enough apparently!
If the word abysmal wasn't in the dictionary before Jimmy Carters term as president, someone would have had to create the word to describe his four years in the oval office.
What a total embarrassment to the United States of America.
No, I didn't read the whole thing. I still haven't eaten yet.
But Carter is the LAST person to be speaking about anyone having anything ABYSMAL.
Was it not under his administration that we got the "Misery Index"?
Did we not under his administration have gas lines and double-digit inflation?
Was it not under his administration that we began having problems with these Islamofascists in the first place, thanks to him not backing the Shah of Iran and claiming that Ayatollah was "a man of God"?
Was it not under his administration that that horrible show "Nightline" was born, during the hostage crisis?
I'm sure others can point out more accounts of his ABYSMAL presidency but he, by far, was the worst president ever in the White House and no amount of media propping will change history. This current administration is basically cleaning up the mess that his created. The only way he can even begin to make himself look good is to TRY to make the Bush administration look bad.
...can't seem to shut the F up!
A real 'Abysmal' record, is Jimmah's Iran record.
Carter's incredible and superb rescue of the American hostages in Tehran is legendary. I'm only sorry that wonderful brave American's had to die so that this POS could receive the Nobel Peace Prize!!!!
[Expresses Surprise at 'Personal' Attacks...]
...and I'm "expressing surprise" that he thinks ANYTHING he has to say, EVER, is of interest to ANYONE, ever! He pooped his brain into his diaper. It's over for this clown. Is there a "death pool" going on anywhere? I'll bet the farm on Jimmah next.
What more needs to be said of Carter's lunacy, er uh legacy?
Delusion, thy name is Carter. You wouldn't be pontificating upon that part of the world, if you had a shred of intelligence.
