SEATTLE - Modern hunters rarely become more famous than Jim Zumbo. A mustachioed, barrel-chested outdoors entrepreneur who lives in a log cabin near Yellowstone National Park, he has spent much of his life writing for prominent outdoors magazines, delivering lectures across the country and starring in cable TV shows about big-game hunting in the West.
Zumbo's fame, however, has turned to black-bordered infamy within America's gun culture -- and his multimedia success has come undone. It all happened in the past week, after he publicly criticized the use of military-style assault rifles by hunters, especially those gunning for prairie dogs.

Maybe... Just trying to put the most positive spin on it I can. I won't hold my breath though. :-)

Yeah. I thought that comment that assault weapon owners aren't as wealthy as hunters was pretty stupid. I'd love to get a Bushmaster for the price of a 700ADL.

I would not be surprised to hear, in a few weeks, after the immediate hoopla has died down, that Zumbo has been hired as an advisor/writer for a publication with anti-gun ties, which will then use him as a propaganda-front as exemplifying "the true face of reasonable gun owners" or some such. Or, George Soros might just hire him directly.
My point is, don't worry over his lost "career". The left will take good care of him now - he is far too valuable and useful to them to let this opportunity pass.

Jim Zumbo is now world famous:
Australia: Blog Entry Ruins Outdoorsmans Career
In regards to the above Washington Post article, the author is as ignorant about firearms, and the Second Amendment, as Jim Zumbo.
The reaction -- from tens of thousands of owners of assault rifles
Wrong. Assault rifles are selective-fire. The reaction came from owners of semi-automatic rifles. Big difference.
I notice the author, Blaine Harden, also uses the terms "assault weapon" and "assault-style firearms" in his article.
Obviously, Mr. Harden has been drinking the Brady Campaign Kool-Aid.

You are correct. In addition, he'll be valuable for Algore, Hellary, JFingK and all other comers to be photographed hunting pheasants with their freely owned rifles.

He could have said the same thing a different way and probably gotten through it, but the over the top demonization of black rifles as "terrorist rifles" pretty much slammed the door on recovery.
He combined ignorance with malice, never a recipe for a positive outcome.

Zumbo went so far as to call scary-looking guns "terrorist rifles". This is part of the agitprop blitz for the upcoming AWB part II. Now we have his scalp, and there will be more.
At the time of the first AWB, in 1994:

"here are actors whose movies I no longer watch, singers whose records I no longer buy, and writers I don't read. Its not a boycott, I just don't like them enough to spend my money on their products any more."
How intolerant of you. You should support them regardless. Otherwise the blessings of socialism can't be known through them.

What Zumbo said was stupid and wrong but it amazes me how vicious we on the right become when someone steps off the reservation for even one split second. We attack like a pack of jackels and that person is, from that point on, dead to us. Zumbo isn't the only one this has happened to, just the latest.
