What many of us have apparently failed to convey to others is the fact that we are Conservative first.
To those who understood the old heirarchy of God-Country-Family-Self, such sentiments were self evident. We have been Republicans because they were the most Conservative party, not the other way around.
Those underlying values demand that we vote our concience on certain issues, a concept which seems as alien to some here as living on a city block with more residents than my county does to me.
