Awww man, he died way before his time.
Many former athletes, it seems, have shorter life expectancy than "regular" folks.
RIP D.J.

Wasn't he the one who caught the pass from Larry Bird, and made the layup, after Bird intercepted the Pistons in-bounds pass at the end of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals in '85 or '86? That was one of the most dramatic plays in the history of sports.

We lose Red before the season and now DJ.

I was there in '84. From the Bucks series till the end. That was a long time ago in Celtics' years isn't it.

Aw, no. He was such a nice man, and so talented. What a shame.

Yes he was during Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals against Detroit. My father and I screamed so loud we woke everyone up.

My husband is going to be so upset.
Prayers for his family.

A terrific player on both sides of the ball. D'd up on Magic Johnson as well as anyone ever did.

Back when I couldn't wait for the NBA playoffs to begin.

They shouldn't have won the '84 WITH him. The Lakers gave it away.
To: NYleatherneck
I remember DJ with the Suns. All the best to his family.
