Not really. Advances in LEDs and fluorescents can produce matching lumens and similar spectra -- so you get the 'warmth' of incandescents.

Technological advancements in this arena are a good thing.

Older CFL's were notoriously bad for slow "warmup" times and an unpleasant bluish tint on the light temperature. I still have a Panasonic brand "globe" CFL that takes about 70 seconds to get full light output.

However, improvements in CFL technology has reduced the "warmup" times to under 20 seconds and also changed the color temperature to something with far less bluish tint. And they're a lot cheaper, too; the Panasonic CFL cost me US$15.00 back in 1999, and now I can get a CFL with the same light output for around US$2.00.
