Giuliani's problem with the religious [large graphics]
Posted on 02/18/2007 4:12:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson
I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.

Dear Al Simmons,
"It is you who has a problem deciding whether to treat the lung cancer or the hangnail first."
No, it is you who have "discerned" that the slaughter of a million children per year is a "hangnail."
And that's very sad.

To all who will base their vote on a narrow reading of one or another passage of the Bible, oblivious to everything else going on around them, I have a Revelation:
1. Jesus isn't on the ballot;
2. EVERY single election is a contest between fallible human beings, hence...
3. EVERY single election is ultimately about choosing the lesser of two evils.
All clear now?

Dear Al Simmons,
And your post is relevant... how?
LOL.
Again, please get back to me when you have a coherent argument to make.
At this point, you're just wasting digital ink.

If the contest is between Hitlary and Rudy or Romney, who will you vote for?

My previous post applies to you too. Good riddance. Go vote for Hitlary for all I care. You are quite misguided here. It is entirely possible that you will get to keep what's left of the GOP if your liberal baby-killer wins the nomination. But you don't get to keep this forum. FreeRepublic belongs to Jim Robinson, and he has made it very clear that Rudy is not a candidate FReepers can support. Perhaps your "Good riddance," then, should be directed at someone a little closer to home.

I've made about 20 coherent arguments since the start of this thread. I guess either you scrolled past them or they didn't penetrate that mental barrier (see tagline).
In either case I can do no more for you.
If you choose to support Hitlary by default, its your right as a (still) free American....

The last time I checked, disagreeing with Jim on an issue wasn't reason for being booted off of FR - or else this place would shut down real soon.....

Dear Al Simmons,
I've looked at each of your posts addressed to me, and there is little by way of rational discourse.
There's some invective. And some hot air. Some insults. Some half-hearted attempts to lay out a case.
And there's a disjointed attempt to vindicate amoral politics by quoting Jesus.
But nothing that really rises to the level of a coherent argument.

"FreeRepublic belongs to Jim Robinson, and he has made it very clear that Rudy is not a candidate FReepers can support."!
Correct on point one, incorrect on point 2.
I don't believe that the charter of FR mandates that one must be 100% in agreement with Jim at all times.
But I do distinctly recall something about "the free exchange of ideas".
By stating good riddance to you I communicated that I have no further desire to discuss this matter with you.
Seems you are jumping to conclusions....

Dear Al Simmons,
It's a long thread. I try to make sure that I look at all the posts directly addressed to me.
But, no, I don't bother to look at every bloviation of hot air that every poster addresses to "all" on every large thread to which I've ever posted.
You really have quite the high opinion of yourself.

OMG!!! After reading that I feel that you have given all of us "100 percenters" an epiphany unlike any other in the history of mankind! I now feel complelled to drop my right to choose a candidate of my choosing and relinquish my principles and beliefs and forevermore follow the mundane Republican habit of rolling over for the frontrunner/presumed Primary winner in lockstep with your historically backed precience without another wimper!!!
Thank you for setting me and so many other FReepers and Lurkers straight with that historical history lesson of historic proportions. Now I think it's a miracle that we don't shift back from preliminary state primaries and git right back to them "smoke filled rooms" at the conventions of yore that played a far bigger role in the historical scenario that you've just pounded us with.
See, Al, that's the one thing that's wrong in always relying on history to support your position. It's best to remember if the entire process has been changed before laying one of your big, over-rated flagellations upon us!!!

Come on, SW. The powers-that-be know what is best for you! You are just not capable of seeing that voting for a particular candidate ("I-generally-agree-with-Governor-Schwarzenegger" Giuliani) will solve all of the country's ills! The "I'm a strong believer in global warming" and "I want to regulate guns" candidate is the only solution! And with his popularity, he can win!!!! Can't ya just see how much better off we'd all be if we just do as we are told? /s
