I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.
No, it's not a fair question. It's a ridiculous strawman, similar to yours, designed to riducule strong pro-life views.
It's not up to me to decide if America is an evil country. I'll leave that to God Himself. Not everyone in this country participates in or supports the evil of abortion and I hope that counts for something in His eyes.
We've had a pro-abortionist Democrat president that I fought every bit as much as I'm fighting pro-abortionist Giuliani right now. I didn't leave the country then, nor would I consider it now if we elect a pro-abortionist with the very same views on the issue but with an R after his name. I will continue to fight for the protection of human life no matter what the major parties and candidates do.
I think that Jim Robinson put it pretty succinctly:
To accept Rudolf Giuliani as the leader of the Republican party, among many other socialist mores we've fought against for so many years, we are told that we must accept abortion into our hearts. It is an accepted practice in modern America and only a minority of Americans say otherwise. Why resist?Well, I'm sorry. I do not accept abortion into my heart. And I doubt the majority of Americans will either.
The mass murder of helpless innocent babies in the womb is evil. Period. Poking sharp instruments into the skulls of partially born babies and sucking their brains out is grotesque barbarism so horrific to be beyond the ability of most people to fully comprehend. It's unthinkable evil.
Knowing that the Democrat Party lovingly embraces this evil as part of their platform literally makes me sick to my stomach. Every time I see the face of Hillary, Kennedy, Schumer, Reid, et al, I see the face of pure evil. It's as if I'm looking into the face of Nazism
Rudolf Giuliani does not deliver us from this evil, he delivers us to it.
If the Republican party embraces this evil culture of death platform as the Democrat party does, then I will have to agree... it's time to move on.
The party of Reagan will be dead. The party of Lincoln will be dead. The party of Jeffersonian life and liberty will be dead. The only party defending human life and liberty in America will be dead.
The Republican party becomes the Democrat party and the Democrat party becomes the communist party, the right to life and liberty in America be damned.
Time and evil marches on.Please pray for America.

I agree. And that's the whole point of this thread. If an abortionist, gay rights supporting gun grabber wins the nomination and becomes the Republican candidate for president, he loses the south by a slim margin and Hillary becomes president.
Mayhaps, but he is definitely not the only one with leadership qualities running in the primaries.
Sorry, but the Republican party nominating a social liberal for president would be a betrayal to the Christian right. What percentage of Christians do you figure will deny God?
But Jim...we're opposing Rudy Giuliani because we hate him and want to elect Hillary or Obama!!! < /sarc >
Now I know you are oblivious to the obvious... She wears the pantsuits in the family!!!
Does your calculation include the D pickup of someone like Giuliani whose appeal transcends party?
That is your speculation, backed up by nary a scintilla of evidence, because there is none. What polls that are out there, suggest the opposite. There is nothing wrong with your opposing every Pubbie that is in the hunt, but making up political outcomes backed up by nothing, is unfortunate.
Why don't we just throw out the entire party platform and find a popular Democrat - maybe Alec Baldwin - and run him for President? We're sure to win! The D pickup would be amazing.
Now why on Gods's green earth would a conservative party suddenly lurch to the left (and wipe out thiry years of gain) to try to attract abortionists, gays and gun grabbers? Stay with the ones that brung ya.
Rudy will get the Southern and Christian vote, because the South won't stand by and allow another Clinton to be sworn in.
In today's political climate, Rudy is will beat Clinton in 08 by a large margin. If Bush gets to put up another Judge, all the better. But Rudy will appoint better judges than Clinton. We CANNOT have another Ginsberg. Because be assured, HC, if given the chance will appoint a very YOUNG Liberal judge. We can't allow her that opportunity. If Rudy wins, he'll need to win in 2012 as well. Then in 2016, another viable Republican candidate will run.
Mia, you are wasting energy trying to change minds here, no matter how strong your points are. Thankfully, though, FR will have no impact on the 2008 election. As hard as some here will work against the Republican nominee, the majority here understand the stakes, and will work twice as hard to see him elected.
STALINIST RISING?
HILLARY CLINTON ABUSE OF POWER
(WHERE IS THE UNREDACTED BARRETT REPORT ANYWAY?)
What state are you in, if I may ask?
But you were inviting the question. You continually criticize the fact that 50 million fetuses have been aborted. Fair enough. But you also call it genocide, mass murder and 'a holocaust'. Now, isn't that screaming for the question I asked? If Nazi Germany was evil for killing 6 million, how evil is America for killing 50 million? But I think there's some cognitive dissonance there. You can't reconcile your hatred for abortion with your love of America, and therefore, reserve judgement.
I don't reserve judgement. America is a great country. The greatest country in the world. A beacon of goodness. Only the liberals claim that America is evil, or a force for evil.
Why do you want a social liberal as president? What do we win if we toss out thirty years of gains for the conservative cause? I think some of you are discounting what a betrayal of thirty plus years effort for the Republican party by the Christian right means. Throw the Christians under the bus at your own peril.
But we would lose the war, wouldn't we?
I love America. Yet--
Murder is murder wherever it occurs.
Genocide is genocide wherever it occurs.
Are you pro-choice/murder/genocide? I'm not.
But America is still the last best hope for humanity.
Do you disagree?
Do you advocate doing to an unborn child without anesthetic something far more painful than clubbing a baby seal?
Do you advocate government funding to create a whole ECOSYSTEM of unwed mothers clubbing their babies and not having to deal with the economic (as opposed to spiritual) consequences of promiscuity?
Do you advocate government teaching elementary school children about sex and condoms, which deliberately creates curiosity and helps destroy innocence at younger and younger ages?
Do you advocate males being able to get away societally with using women without protecting and providing for them--which is at the bottom of this whole problem?
This whole abortion issue wouldn't even be an issue if more males were MEN.
Women get their hopes up but then the males 'cut and run' in the morning.
There's your evil. Abortion is indeed evil--but it's an effect, not the cause.
Yes, we have evil in America as well as everywhere else.
And we need candidates with the backbone and testosterone to stand up and fight it.
