"We need to run a conservative that will pull together all of our conservative coalition and have a platform that will rouse the base and the grassroots. "

The problem is the WHO?

IMO Jeb Bush would have the best chance, if his last name weren't Bush. Newt did great in 1994, understand the issues, clearly a leader, but he didn't say he is running and I am afraid the Dem machinery would destroy him, the way they did, when he was speaker. Hunter has no name recognition and isn't likely to surge. So WHO?

Do you want to run? ;)

Candidates don't "surge" by themselves, candidates "surge" when people get behind them and push their candidacy. This is what some of us are already doing. We don't waste time guessing about what could happen, we're too busy trying to make it happen.

I know one thing for certain about the next election. I will vote for the Republican nominee. He/she may not be the one I prefer but I will vote Republican.

I will not stay home, I will not vote for any democrat nor cut off my nose to spite my face.

If 911 did not cause the democrats to appreciate our enemies then a few thousand more dead American's certainly won't make a difference.

I also think Goldberg was tongue in cheek with this article.

I don't know, but it's not Giuliani, McCain or Romney. None of these guys are full blooded conservatives who can rouse the base, but each is burdened with a full load of baggage that will eventually pull his campaign down. The only way any of these gentlemen can win in the general is if the Democrat vote splits and I don't see that happening. They're marching in lock step to stop the war and advance their liberal agenda.

I think we should not be looking for the "FR style Conservatives" because A there is none running like that and B they are not going to win a general elections if they are "FR style conservatives:. The Republican candidates still have an edge over Hillary Clinton or Obama if one of them is the democrat presidential nominee in 2008.

Hillary Clinton will destroy herself because she has a very nasty and very mean character that she cannot hide and the media cannot cover it for her and thus she will turn of the majority of voters away from her a an early stage during the campaign.

Obama is simply too stupid to win.

In my opinion, the only one who can win the Presidency in the democrat party if he runs is AL Gore.
